Bathroom Sink/ Drain Pipe (Drain Pipe broke leading to ground)
Comments (4)The first thing i did when I could find a hole was stick the broken piece back under the sink and held it there, trying to find all possible position, from the ground and had no luck. Someone had mentioned a Branch Arm connection.... I did look left, right and up but did not put much effort into the search because I thought that was not possible... I will look a little harder... Also I am not sure if this helps but behind this bathroom, or behind where the break happened, there is another bathroom in a separate room. In that bathroom there is a stand up shower that shares the same wall as the sink in question. I see numerous water supply pipes.... but no drain pipes... Thanks for the follow Ups so Far.. I posted on other sites and people are less than happy to help most thought this was a joke......See MoreSlow drain in bathroom sink (x-post)
Comments (7)For my reno, they replaced a number of the old pipes with copper, and they had to move the sink pipe over a few inches to accomodate a larger sink; that had to be cast iron. They didn't replace the main pipes that run up and down between floors - just my "off-shoots". The sink ran fine for the first month or two - it's just the last couple of weeks that it got slow... It will make me CRAZY if we have to open the wall to do anything with this since the work was just done!!! It is interesting to me that running very hot water seems to clear it up, but then it gets slow again. What would account for that??? Initially I thought it might be some sort of soap clog that the hot water was melting through, but maybe not pushing all the way down... does that make any sense???...See MoreDoable...European sink & US bathroom pop-up drain and faucet?
Comments (7)Yes - of course you can. Most of the high end showers we build use German, Italian, french and English hardware. The fittings you seek something you need to know how to find and ask for. Here is a secret. Don't walk into the store and say "Hey - I bought the meat and potatos all ready over seas but really need the $20.00 fitting you sell to make it work". Find out who sells the high end stuff - go ask the questions in store. here in Vancouver the goto shop is Cantu. They are bomb barded with people shopping at Ikea and not being able to hook stuff up. I have heard from multiple people that Ikea sends them to Cantu. And Cantu asks "Where did you buy it?" Round and round you go. Companys actually make Euro to North American adapters. Some companys design their pieces top be cut and once cut the remeainder is NA. So many versions. Comments (0)We moved into this house a little over a month ago, we are renting to own it. It's a 1998 doublewide that has been remodeled, we are on our own septic tank and it was emptied long before we moved in. A few weeks back I was trying to take a bath and noticed a sewer smell coming from the tub, it seemed to be coming from the faucet but not the water itself. Then it started coming from the bathroom sink drain and the toilet. It comes and goes shortly after we run any of the water in the bathroom or flush the toilet. A retired plumber told us he believed it was the roof vents, we have two. One for the tub and one for the sink and toilet. He told us to run water down them and wait to see if we heard any whoosh sound which would be a blockage passing through. We did this and heard the whoosh sound out of the vent for the toilet/sink. Nothing to be heard from the other one. We thought we were good to go, problem solved. Nope that only lasted a few hours and then got worse. The smell still only happens if the water is running/after its been ran but the smell is worse. And I don't know if it's related but after we did the roof thing the cold water in the tub has almost completely stopped working. Its only a drizzle but you can hear pressure behind it like it's trying but is blocked. I've called the man we're buying the house from but only got his voicemail, which i figured given that it's father's day weekend. But this smell when it does happen is getting extremely unbearable to deal with and we're at our wits end. The other cold water in the bathroom is running perfectly so I dont know what is going on with the tub. Does anyone know what could be going on? And yes we have tried running water down the drains, it hasnt stopped the smell. (Its not sulfur either, I grew up with sulfur water and this isn't that. This is definitely a sewer smell)....See MoreJake The Wonderdog
