DINING ROOM DECOR: Blush/Gold/Marble - GLAM!
Comments (49)I like all the light fixtures other than the small one you say you would need two of. Even with two. Do you think you would need two of the drum? With the length of your table, the rectangular ones might be nice and you definitely need only one. If it were my room, I would go with the first or last one of those. They have the softer glam of the inspiration room. The second one would take it more into a crisp or edgy style -- and that's okay, but it's not the direction you seem to be leaning with the rug and pillows. See if you can read reviews on those two and even look for photos of them lit. Differences in dust clinging or being too shadowy might favor one over the other. The coffee table would definitely work in your LR -- and didn't you say you wanted a shelf? This one has two. The round one you like has no shelf, and the ones that are plain circles that do have shelves don't hold up to your style. They are fine, but in your room I think they would be boring. The table needs something to give it enough personality to hold up in that room. It doesn't need to be bold or take center stage, but it needs to stand up on its own. I like the fact that this one has rounded corners -- easier on little ones who tend to bump them when they are learning to walk and run, playing, etc. Compare the sizes. The round can help open up a tight space, but the one I found was the smaller one. Is it too small for your room? Do you plan to have any kind of table between the chairs? If not, I think you need a larger rectangle for the coffee table so that a person sitting in one of the chairs has a place to set down a drink, a phone -- whatever. Which leads me to the idea that you might use a rectangle for your coffee table and a round one between the two chairs. Gotta run for a bit.... will check back later....See MoreGlam, chic, industrial small open living room design help
Comments (20)Wall Color: While I can't speak to the colors you specifically listed, I think gray would look great. Ideally in something about the same darkness as the current wall color. Furniture Layout: Your current layout looks great. Coffee Table: I'd go with something glass, delicate and a little glam. It's a small space with several upholstered items and I think the current ottoman is too "heavy" visually. Bernhardt Newland coffee table Wade Logan Jess coffee table Willa Arlo Interiors Gettys coffee table Rug: Needs to be large enough for at least the front legs of your chairs and sofa to rest on. Without knowing the dimensions of your sofa I can't say what that would be. Here are a couple of ideas for rugs. esalerugs light blue new vintage rug esalerugs light blue new vintage rug Decor: For window treatments, I think some full length touching the floor drapes in a luxurious material like silk would work well. I am a big fan of white or ivory but a medium gray could work well too. Pottery Barn Dupioni silk drapes I also think you need a lamp or two in the room. They add a lot of drama and style to a room. I don't think you need anything between the refrigerator furniture-wise. You could do a taller cabinet, but I'd avoid anything that becomes a clutter collector. I think you need more art on the other walls. Everything is currently concentrated in just the gallery wall....See MoreLiving room decoration to warm it up and add more glam

Comments (26)Seconding NOT spray painting those chairs. I glanced at the pic with the white chairs before reading the post and my first thought was, "nice dining room setup, but what kind of monster would paint such nice chairs??" If you want more contemporar/white chairs, sell the wood ones and get different ones. They don't even look good in white anyway. However, if you want a glam dining room, I would recommend having elegant traditional elements in it, like wood furniture and a more ornate/not modern chandelier. The antique furniture + bold modern art is a sophisticated look I really love. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to decor and interior design, so maybe I'm biased, but I feel like a lot of the contemperary design moves in dining rooms de-formalize the space and make it feel more homey and less "glam". Not a bad thing for many people, but probably not what you want if you want glam. As for chandelier styles, I like the ones with more brass than crystal, personally, as well as shades around the bulbs. I think a good move would be to go to a lighting showroom and look at the options in person....See MoreDelanise Carter
