More on my cuke plant - found bugs
Comments (1)I can't tell what they are. Aphids? They come in different colors. Whatever they are, they're probably causing at least half the problem. Nutrient-deficient plants are more susceptible to insect infestations. Squash the bugs, or brush/knock them into a container of soapy water. Comments (6)OK -- Here are Piper's problem blooms. First -- this is not a problem caused by insects. This big old growth in the center of the bloom is called "PROLIFERATION." Some would call that a "STEEPLE." Now, we can all discuss what causes proliferation. Opinions vary. I was told by Dr. Cairns that proliferation is triggered by an too much nitrogen. So I guess it can be said to be environmentally caused. BUT I have also observed that certain roses will do this, whereas others never do. In my garden 'L.D. Braithwaite,' 'Othello,' and some of the Moore Hybrid bracteatas did this ALL the time. I can't stand looking at it, and I won't keep a rose that does this more than once or twice. But not everyone is bothered by it. As to your leaves falling off, well, that is PROBABLY because it went through a period of heat in that 5-G pot. The same thing happened here in the last heatwave, with a young Buff Beauty in a 2-G pot. I think you have the rose in the ground, now, so that problem should be solved. Comments (9)Can't tell what the top is... it looks like some sort of fly pupa. The bottom, on the other hand, are mealybugs that need to be destroyed! Put out some ant bait out while you're at it since they protect the mealies. -Tom ::EDIT:: Yeah, the bottom is cotton cushion scale, oops. Either way, they're bad!...See MoreSucculent Pest ID - tiny black scattering bugs killing plants
Comments (4)They are a species of Hemiptera. I am not familiar with that one. They cause a lot of damage to plants. They are clumsy so you can spray them off with water. The nymphs I think will have a hard time climbing all the way back up. The adults will be right back unfortunately....See Moreponcirusguy6b452xx
