Oh, please stop the butchering

I read the news online as we do not have a television in our home. What disturbs me, is the poor editing that must be occurring. So frequently, I see the wrong word, I just know that "spellcheck" is the only editing. Reading about a traffic accident, "the driver failed to break". P-l-e-a-s-e...how about brake! And don't even get me started on the "too" passengers. Though the spelling often irritates me, it is the sentence structures that deter me from even reading the article. Though I am an excellent reader, I usually have to read the item multiple times to decipher the intent. What it says just isn't what the reporter means.

How can communication majors, graduating with a bachelors degree, produce such illiterate writing?

I'm sorry for the rant. Have a great day.
