I try to keep track of delivery dates. Sometimes they ring the bell; sometimes not. If I'm home I check the porch on a regular basis.

They just slow down and throw ours out.

If you are expecting a package you can check your email, pretty soon after delivery many times there is a message that it has been delivered. Because of my poor hearing I don't hear the door so I check my email if I'm expecting something, or just look out there every once in a while.

I have heard that some of the temps get paid by the package delivered, don't know it that is true but if so they would not want to chance someone opening the door and starting a conversation, because that would cut into their delivery time.

I get updates on my phone. Never guessing where the package is and get an immediate text message when it's on the porch. All delivery systems offer text updates, including the USPS.

I've noticed this year that they don't ring anymore. It seemed even last year they would ring once or twice then leave immediately.

I was just reading on our Next Door that someone stole a package off a porch and the homeowner got the license plate number and reported it to the police.

Ours ring the door bell and then walk off. I holler out a "thank you" to them as they are heading down the driveway.

Our doorbell is broken. I have a 'please knock' sign and a dog that barks when he hears a diesel engine stop outside or someone at the door. Some delivery drivers are kind enough to knock. I heard one delivery lady drop the package with the two laptops in it. In her defense, the package was heavy and it appeared the tape on the flaps ripped. I knew another package was there by the thud as it hit the ground. Dh and I walked by a FedEx truck the other day on the way to the mailbox. The guy in the back was physically tossing the packages as he went through them. If someone comes to steal my packages, I'm not sure they are really gaining anything as the contents stand a chance of being broken.

I get regular email updates each step of the way. For all the delivery options. I signed up for for the free updates. No one rings our door bell anymore. A few just threw the package out the truck onto the driveway to be run over by anyone pulling in. Or picked up by anyone passing by.

Like Jewels, ours rings the door bell. But I am expecting something since Saturday... and just looked... Amazon says, it is delayed and expected to arrive on Wednesday.

I hope, they get it here soon.

The UPS driver honks his horn when he is stopping. Problem is I don't hear it inside. Otherwise they will just ring the doorbell if they need a signature. USPS tracking is kind of screwed up for me right now. Was expecting something Thursday, tracking said it is delayed and no information on the expected delivery date. As of 4 pm it said "on its way to the destination", no city given. Checked again at 7pm and it said "delivered in or at mailbox".

Iris, i have the same situation going on with USPS. My pkg was scheduled to arrive saturday. I really expected it on Friday, as usual from this company. Still nothing, and no updates since it left the other coast.

I don't need a door bell... I have barkers. Much more reliable. :)

I do have two dogs, but somebody would have to ring the bell for them to bark. Not very reliable watchdogs.....

I forgot. I found a package in the garage the other day. Dh walked in the house and didn't close the garage door because he was apparently coming back out. He got distracted and I walked and there. There was a package in the middle of the floor. ???

It's so easy to follow deliveries online. They give an "estimated" date of delivery, then it will say "Out for delivery", and then show "delivered" and the time. No, they don't ring the bell or knock anymore. Our UPS driver (his children and my DGC went to school together for years) said that few people are home these days, and it can make a significant difference in how many packages they can deliver each day. If I lived in a neighborhood with a high crime rate, I would not have packages delivered to my house. It's not a problem most places.

The one that was in my mailbox today skipped the "out for delivery". I did check, since it was already delayed.

They can ring mine until the cows come home. My doorbell doesn't work. lol

There was something on the news last night about ups requiring mandatory overtime for many of their drivers; they are literally running from truck to door and back again. Overtime must be less expensive than hiring more drivers. :( Doesn't sound safe to me to have these guys constantly in a hurry in their big trucks.

Dh got a package last week that never said it was delivered. He said he contacted them to let them know he got it and could mark it delivered so they didn't send a second package. Today he got a notice that he has been refunded his money. Argh!

Brushworks, do you fish? We are big-time fishermen! Do you have a suggestion for a boat that is safe to go well offshore but still be shallow enough for freshwater river and creeks? There must be such a boat someplace somewhere! :)

Oh, forgot to add, i think i have a lost package. After sitting on the phone with USPS automated service for 30 minutes, i now have to wait over an hour for them to call me. It's already been 63 minutes.

Well, USPS just called me back and she opened an investigation which will go to a higher investigation if my package isnt received by friday. She also set up alert msg'ing because it kept telling me the tracking number was invalid. That invalid number was the reason i became concerned. So, we'll see what happens.

I had a package delivered into my detached garage a few months ago, I saw the delivery guy walking up the drive and looked on the back porch...nothing. They have never knocked or rung the doorbell in my life so I didn't expect that. It took me a few minutes to realize that DH had left the garage door open. Did he leave it there because it was a shorter walk for him? The garage delivery thing is unacceptable. Had it happened again I would have complained.

Wow! Is that a 6 pounder? Our waters here are not known for large bass. My husband's biggy was 6.2. Mine, 4.2... but i catch a LOT more in quantity than he does. :)

P.S. I prefer saltwater fishing and there's not really one boat that fits both needs.

In our usually safe town, people have reported cars following UPS trucks, swiping the packages left on porches and driving off. I think that if the doorbell were rung, such a practice might be foiled. I do follow tracking but I want to know when the box has been placed on my porch so I can retrieve it.

The one above was caught with a Texas rig in a city park pond and weighed in at 4 lb. 12 oz. She's most likely 10 to 12 years old. I abide by the catch and release program.

I've caught about 7 in similar size and a ton of 1 to 2 pound LM & SM Bass in local farm ponds and streams.

Door bells not helpful because Im not home..... I had my first and likely last delivery today sent from Walmart. Nothing that went wrong necessarily. It took over a week for Walmart to "progress" my order which I thought was too long, it was Sunday when it said was processed and was on my step today. But this morning my tracking info it said I would get it tomorrow. So how do you plan with misinformation. I was lucky my Dad happened to be here today working outside. I had thought it was going to my post office anyway as is was sent via canada post. They asked for your PO box which is what made me believe it would go to the post office not to my door. ( my town does not deliver the mail to your door we have a post office and supper box's) We also have a nasty package thief just waiting for peoples deliveries. Dad said it was just a black pickup truck that a guy got out of and just left the box with the Walmart tape on the back step in full view of the street, anyone could have taken it. thank goodness for Dad's. At least I got it undamaged. If I do this again I will ask my folks if they will accept a package for me, they are home most days, and where they live they don't have people stealing off their steps.

UPS and Fedex always drop and knock. Then the dog goes nuts and I have no doubts a package has been delivered.

Independent Amazon deliverers, UPS, and Fed Ex all seem to ring the bell. And our bell sounds like a railroad crossing, so there is no missing it. The USPS does not ring. Fortunately we have some one home most hours, most days, so it is unlikely a package would get stolen off our porch.

About a month ago, a package was left at a door I never use, but SIL saw it there. Then a couple of weeks ago I got the message that they had tried to deliver a different package but no one answered the door, so they could not leave it! They then delivered it to my PO. Never know what their "rules" are!

USPS delivered a Smart Post package for us yesterday and left it in front of and against the storm door. She's new at the job, so I'll be gentle.
