Do you have a Kindle?
Comments (30)Some tablets you can download books to your computer then just put them onto a memory card and insert card into tablet and read them from the memory card so in that case you would not need wifi. For a tablet to download right to the tablet you will need wifi to get the actual download then you can just have it on the tablet in memory and read it anytime. Some of the early Kindles you did not need wifi it had it's own built in that would connect only to the Amazon book store. I am not sure which ones still do that. My brother in law had one of the first Kindles and his was that way so he did not need wifi to get books. To do the memory card thing you must have a tablet that is able to use a memory card so has the slot for one. All of mine which are Android tablets do have memory card slots. I actually prefer to save the downloads to my pc and put them on memory cards so I have a back up copy. Now for the kindle books I get I download those from Amazon directly to my tablet and read using my Kindle app. So to answer your question it all depends on what you are getting and what features it has....See MoreDo you keep your Kindle busy?
Comments (2)In Canada, I haven't been able to get any of the card and word games to download. I think I would use my iPad more for this anyway. I have about 400 books on my Kindle and am getting mostly free books daily. I use mine for reading purposes almost exclusively. I read daily and no longer read paper books. I'm retired and haven't had to add any PDF's or other work related material. I have gotten my e-mail working and used the Internet to visit my favourite sites but it isn't exactly the best platform to use for this purpose. The 3G on the Kindle 3 will be useful when I travel though for emergencies. I do not put music on mine. We do not have access to the Touch or Fire yet in Canada....See MoreKindle: Do you like it?
Comments (28)There are quite a few newspaper and magazine subscriptions available for the Kindle. One of the best advantages of the Kindle is that material can be downloaded without the use of a computer if the user lives in an area covered by Sprint. Amazon calls it Whispernet. On your Kindle you can access the Kindle store on Amazon, purchase a book or subscription, and have it downloaded directly to the Kindle without the use of a computer. The subscriptions will be downloaded automatically whenever the wireless access is turned on on the Kindle. It can be left on all the time but the battery drains faster when that is done. The download is almost unbelievably fast. If the user is not in a Sprint coverage area, then the download must be done through a computer....See MoreKindle Paperwhite or Fire HD7
Comments (9)I'm sure it does help with the Eye Strain problem. These LED/LCD are bright and hard on the eyes. We really don't notice it much now, but when we first switched from the old CRT Style Monitors and TV's most of us complained about how bright the LCD Screens were. I can see how the Paperwhite screen would be easier on the eyes after a long night of reading. I have an 10.1" Acer Iconia a500 w/Android 4.0 in a Swivel Case and I understand how your arms could get tired holding your iPad Air. My Acer a500 is a very heavy tablet. I recently upgraded to an 8" Acer Iconia W4-820 w/Windows 8.1 and Case (not swivel). You wouldn't believe the difference in the weight between those two Tablets!...See Morethankurnmo
