I think it should help, much easier on the eyes.

My hubby and I both have Kindles--we really like them. It's easy to set the font size, font style and background color. We used to read on our iPads, but we like to read when we go camping or relaxing in our back patio, so the glare on our iPads was just too much. The Paperwhite is perfect for that--no glare whatsoever. I think you'll really like it!. The only downside that I can think of is that it only uses Mobi format. I had many books that were in epub format, but I found a program that will convert to Mobi. It's called Calibre, and it's easy to use and then very easy to transfer to your Kindle. (Now, having said that about Calibre--I'm on a MacBook, so that might make a difference.)

Everything tvq1 said. I have 2 kindles and love them! I also get eye strain so making font larger is great. I've used Calibre too. It takes a few extra steps but worth it.

I don't think I need to be concerned with converting the files. Almost all of the books I get from my library are in Kindle format. I currently read them in a Kindle app.

I got one but haven't really used it yet. Seems hoopla where I can find books I want to read don't work on kindle...libby does, but the wait list is often months long, so I find it easier to head to the library and check out the actual book.

Not to detract from the Kindle Paperwhite (I'm considering one also) but if you are using the Kindle App, there are two alternate background colors, Sepia or Black. Just click the font icon in the toolbar and choose. I use Sepia with maximum brightness.

I recently switched from a Kindle to an ipad. The ipad has a larger screen and 'turns pages' a fraction faster than the kindle. The Kindle's screen is easier on the eyes, especially outdoors, it fits in my purse, and its battery lasts longer. So ... not getting rid of either one just yet.

I use the kindle app on my tablet and it is very adjustable/customizable font size, type, colors of background and text, light amounts. I prefer the dark background color and light color text I find it much easier to read and less eye strain.

My husband has a paperwhite and loves it.

As an aside, there's a slew of good books from the 1920s that are coming off of copyright protection now...I hope Project Gutenburg is getting all over them.

I love my paperwhite and am able to get most books I want from the library in kindle version. Lately a bunch have only been the epub or hoopla so I am generally able to read them on my chromebook. Not as convenient as the kindle for sure, but in covid times, it's not a big issue. Maybe I should investigate Calibre, I do absolutely prefer reading on the paperwhite.

My mom had macular degeneration and thought the kindle paperwhite was the way to go. She used it all the time.
