Should baby and toddler share a room?
Comments (25)I also am in favor of young siblings sharing a room. Maybe my two were just good sleepers. D was about 3 when S was born. Our of necessity they shared a room for three years. S was about 3-4 months old when he moved into the room (and mostly sleeping through the night). Both became very sound sleepers. D went to bed about 7 at that time and S was generally ready to go down about the same time. I think those early years together, sharing a room, helped build a special bond between them. I still fondly remember listening to the two of them talking to each other in the morning. Even when we moved, and they finally had their own rooms, they often slept in the same room, with one on the floor. Just recently, as young adults, they spent a month traveling together....See MoreDifferences Between Girl Babies/ Toddlers and Boys....
Comments (11)I don't think the walking or quick-learning has anything to do with being a girl. All children are different. I have two boys who are as different as day and night. My oldest was very physically advanced, crawling at 5 months, pulling up at 6 months (his little legs would wobble and shake as he FORCED himself to inch along the furniture), cruising (fast! - literally running down the hall with one hand on the wall) at 8 months. But he wouldn't let go and walk until 10 months. My youngest, who didn't walk until after his first birthday, is much more of a dare-devil. The younger son is the one that climbs any and everything. We have to inventory his bumps and bruises every Monday so daycare will know what happened at home. Little did I realize that those early years would so accurately reflect their personalities. My oldest is very determined and very self-controlled, but is not a risk taker. He doesn't like to disappoint anyone. My youngest is much more footloose and fancy-free. He doesn't give a flip what you think of him. My boys are 5 years apart and the younger child regularly plays with his brother and his older friends. He is as tough as nails! I don't think he will ever lack for self-esteem. I also worried (unnecessarily, but that is what moms do!) about their intelligence. My oldest just *knew* things. He just seemed to know colors/shapes/numbers/letters with zero effort. My youngest didn't pick up those things nearly as fast. I thought my oldest was normal so I was shaken by my youngest's lack of interest. The younger child started talking very early and got a lot of attention for being a "talking baby", but in my mind, he really couldn't "do" every much. When DS2 started attending preschool, he shone. He can memorize any story and repeat it word for word. Finally I had an Eureka moment. My oldest is a visual learner to an extreme. My youngest is a auditory learner. Neither is better than the other. They are just different. I always say that God sent my younger son to teach me humility. I thought I had this parenting thing figured out ... Comments (8)On the other hand, you could take a green from the woodland mural and paint that under the mountains (see the green throw in your photo)and on one between wall, then take a tan color from the mountains and put that under the woodland and on the last wall. Lots of play and imagination to be generated by that. Your furniture would stand out against darker shades....See MoreNeed help decorating 3 year toddler girl bedroom painted Amazinggray
Comments (18)This might not be any of my business, but are you fostering or adopting? Part of your post make me think that you are and if so I have been there and done that with a grey room too! I over thought the heck out of it and in the end a friend set me straight. "Get all the basic furniture, add twinkle lights, and get some fun inexpensive bedding." Anything goes with grey. Truly. If this is not your situation, and this kiddo already lives with you, pick out three comforters and ask them to select one. Do they love horses, butterflies, cars? Go with what they like and choose accent colors for objects around the room that coordinate with the bedding....See MoreRelated Professionals
