Corian backsplash options, which to choose?
Comments (7)Several years ago we replaced our laminate with Corian. Going in to the project I wanted the counter straight back to the wall and then tiled on the wall for a clean look; however when the Corian guy came to measure he talked about the ease of cleaning a coved back splash and there wouldn't be any 90 degree corner to keep clean, so I relented and did the coved backsplash. Now I regret it. Yes, the coved back splash is nice; however there's the extra ledge that the tile sits on top of to keep clean. I would not do the coved backsplash. It would also give it a more modern look....See MoreWhich range hood would go best with this waveline tile backsplash?
Comments (7)Looks rate well behind your eyes watering from smoke because it’s only pretty. Function first. The capture area of a curve is better than a flat area. But the other specs should tell the tale. 10” duct required? 600+ CFM? Grade of stainless? Type of filter? Type of blower? Country of origin? Price?...See MoreWhich color backsplash would you choose?
Comments (7)I'd find a tile that has some subtle color in it. Maybe not green, but something that starts to add some life / personality. I realize the home will be sold, but I think that getting something that is colorful or at least a little unexpected / different allows people to take that "risk" they would not take on their own and the buyer will attribute higher "style" to the house if you use something a little more saturated. Perhaps something with some blue / aqua, tiling all the way up behind the hood is a great think here too. Something that pops will make everything else feel higher end, IMO. Blanding everything to offend no one may end up generating ambivalence. If your market is decent - I'd rather have someone have a strong feeling on the house. Do something that feels more custom....See Morehow much of this wall would you tile for backsplash
Comments (22)No, Beth, what I said was that I wouldn't tile above just one window when there's two windows in close proximity. I would treat them equally. In that scenario the charcoal tile would be everywhere and it could make it appear cave-like. That means charcoal tile on the stove wall, the entire wall around the main window, the smaller window, around the door, the nook, and the side wall up to the ceiling. Since snarky is not tiling the main window, I don't see the need of tiling around the small window. It would look better to continue the paint color that's around the main window around the small window. That's IMO!! You have yours, which I am not rudely criticizing. If you're going to tile the side wall near the nook, snarky, take it to the ceiling. Don't just float it on to the side wall at shelf level....See Morejewelisfabulous
