Oskiebabu: Great idea. I just looked in the owner's manual and it says: Be careful not to slide pots and pans across your cooktop. It will leave metal markings on the cooktop surface. These marks are removable using the CERAMA BRYTE® Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner with the CERAMA BRYTE® Cleaning Pad for Ceramic Cooktops. It also recommends CERAMABRYTE® Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner for everyday cleaning of the cooktop. So I guess I'll shop for that in my local stores this week! Thanks! try_hard

" After living with our Thermador 30" induction with black glass finish for a couple months now, I can tell you that your DH needs to rethink this. (polite way of saying he's quite wrong-LOL) Ours shows every dog hair, finger print, speck of minerals from dried drops of water, etc. I never appreciated (because I never realized) how much 'yuck' the old stainless top Jenn-Air cooktop was camouflaging. Another thing - We have the frameless cooktop and I now regret it. Our pop-up downdraft is installed at the head of the cooktop. I had my first spill-over this week while cooking rice on a back burner. I caught it in time, but had I not, the stuff would have gone right down the front of the downdraft unit, under the cooktop. Eeeew. At that moment, I regretted not having the frame to catch it. Hindsight is always 20/20. If you don't have the pop-up downdraft, but have overhead venting instead, it's not an issue.

Earlier this year I was thinking the output on the two front burners was low. Then I noticed that that there was a vibration when I was using the cooktop. So around June 1 I asked Miele to come take a look at it. They called back a day later and said they would send a third party to come look at it. I declined, stating one of the reasons I purchased the HR1622 was because Miele has their own in house technicians. So Miele sends their own technician out two weeks later. The technician says you need a fan and the two front burners. I’ll order parts and come back. Three weeks later Miele calls, says the parts are in, need to schedule the install. Earliest we can be there two weeks away. The night before the appointment Miele calls and says we will not be there tomorrow, as we do not have your parts yet. What the heck? Another two weeks pass, and Miele calls to schedule the install. We can be there August 14th. 2 techs came and installed the new parts on the 14th. 10 weeks to fix my range. Seems a bit long to me. As much as I love my Hr1622, I’ll need to rethink buying a Miele product in the future. On the bright side, my front burners work as well as new, and no more vibrations. Very weird - I guess encouraging that this isn't a common problem. I looked at the manual and the only thing it said was not to slide pans. I have never done that intentionally but sometimes they've slid unintentionally because the cooktop and the pans are so smooth. However when that happened I didn't end up with scratches. It did say to clean it with the cleaner that came with the range (nothing came with it) to protect it which I didn't read or do until you guys mentioned it. The current scratches aren't going to come out but they aren't that bad. I just don't want to have more. Also bought some parchment paper tonight. I was thinking maybe I need to dust it off before I use it in case there's some inconspicuous abrasive particles on it. We'll see how it goes with all my precautions. If I didn't like the induction so much I would probably be very annoyed by all this.
