THANK YOU SO MUCH for this information. Is there anywhere I can get this information in writing? It was sold to us as granite, although our fabricator swore up and down to us that it was marble. Now, Verona Marble Company is telling is it is a 'soft' granite. This was not disclosed to us - we told them we needed a tough granite for our 4 x 8 island that we planned to use to eat meals. It also includes a sink. They told us it would be great for this use. I do love the stone, but I don't want to worry so much about the etching. I agree about getting it honed. We are going to call and see if we can find out if Verona Marble Company will pay for the honing since they sold it under 'false pretenses'. Thanks again...any more information you could pass along or direct me to would be GREATLY appreciated.

We ended going with MSI calacatta laza. I wasn’t comfortable going with a company that had no reviews. The quartz itself has been beautiful. We had some issues with installation (they cut the slab incorrectly) but it was fixed and we are happy with the way it turned out. Here’s a shot if it still in progress:

Did you end up using Lapitec? If so, how has it held up?

Following this. I got a sample of Helena yesterday and think it might be perfect. Looks a little like Taj Mahal. Also, it looks like Home Depot carries it, which would probably be a less expensive route.
