I am using an HP Envy with perfect results on card stock. Highly recommend.

I saw that one at Staples yesterday. Forgot to mention that I prefer an all-in-one printer, at least one with a copier and scanner. Is the Envy an all-in-one, can't remember. I looked at so many. ha

So tell me, where do you load the card stock -in a feeder tray upfront or do you feed it through a tray in back? Is it ink jet or laser? the laser ink cartridges the clerk showed me were so expensive.

Schoolhouse, my friend who makes cards has a 2 in 1 photo printer that she is pleased with. Sorry, I don't know the make, but she sells her cards and uses it a lot. She had mentioned the photo printer works best for card stock.

I use an HP P1102W for card stock weekly. Feeds slowly, but always works very well. Our card stock is also 65lb.

JoAnn, that's what the guys at Staples kept telling me. Like I said, my small Officejet 5610 has made a lot of cards over the years. It's no longer made, but I found some online, used, used-good condition, and new. But - the new ones are offered at $400 and up! I'm sure I didn't pay nearly that for my original plus I would be a little wary of ordering a used one even tho it's listed as "still works good!" ha

I like the 5610 because the paper feeder tray is up front and not behind a door that closes. So I can feed sheets of card stock one at a time without opening and shutting a door which is what I see on newer printers. However, the printer in residence at Staples said a rear paper feeder is best for card stock because then the paper doesn't have to "bend" over the rollers as it's being printed. I wanted a demonstration but he said they aren't allowed to do that in-store.

Anyway, I took the HP 6978 back this afternoon along with the ink cartridges. Looked at lighter card stock. The lightest is 32lb. and it isn't card stock but just ordinary paper. Then I found some brochure paper and wondered about that. The Staples printer wasn't sure about how that would work. In the end, I found an HP "Promotions Business Paper Sample Pack" that has four types of paper plus envelopes for $5.99. I thought what the heck, I'll see for myself since the clerks won't open packs of paper of course. Also discovered that what I'm using that is 65lb. is actually "cover stock".

schoolhouse... i was thinking about the "bending" too. i have a printer/copier/scanner - epson xp-410... ink jet. NOT a lot of money... less than$100 for sure. for B&W paper it is fine. paper loads from back... tilted at maybe 60 degrees. i print things for school out on BRIGHT color paper. some of it is heavier than others... and printer can balk easily.

i'd take something i want to copy and a few sheets of card stock and have them SHOW you it works!

For many years I had a Lexmark and loved it. Lexmark is no longer made and when my printer died, I went to Walmart and told the clerk I wanted "just" a printer. He said the closest thing to my beloved Lexmark was the HP Deskjet 1000. I bought it, LOVED it, went back the next day and bought 2 more identical, so if this one ever dies, I have 2 spares. It prints on the 110 lb weight cardstock just fine....one sheet at a time. Had a Canon once, hated it, and gave it to a neighbor. I'm sold on the HP.

Went into panic mode yesterday....printer wouldn't come on. One of the cats jumped behind the printer and shut off the switch on the power strip! Good thing I love them so much. They sure get in trouble.

I love my HP Envy 4500 (wireless all-in-one) so much that I bought a second one for my studio, and one for my father. It cost less than $100 and works beautifully (including on card stock).
