My gift to you-a staking challenge!
Comments (5)I had the same problem with my sweet 100 tomato plant! In the junction between grances (when a branch is growing off the main stem, etc) there are usually new shoots poking out. Cut those off, even if they are not so new. This will prevent uncontrollable growth, and allow the plant to focus its nutrients on the tomatoes it is already growing. However, some people warn not to over prune, and that you should only cut off below where the flowers are (?). Just look up online "indeterminate tomato pruning"....See MoreGifts for People who are Challenging to Buy For
Comments (39)I like to give gift cards to a restaurant someone wouldn't normally frequent~McCormick & Schmidt, Roy's, even the Cheesecake Factory. It's not only an occasion for a sumptuous dinner but a chance to dress up a little nicer than usual. Make sure it's large enough to include a house wine or a couple of drinks. Make sure she has an escort. Book a facial at an upscale spa, usually a cost of $125-$200, depending on the city as well as the type of facial. Make sure you accompany her~it's no fun going alone. A movie and dinner. It's that special time just for the two of you. A 'date' for a limo and a winery~'nuf said. This can be a gift from several people, maybe two children/spouses. For Mom/Dad, one OR the other. Make it a Sunday afternoon, it's more quiet. I'm sorry if you don't have a winery near you. ;o)...See MoreMore Gift Ideas Needed: Gifts for Good Friends
Comments (33)We had the same problem for years. We have a group of seven couples (all close in age). We would take trips together once every year or so but during the year we would take turns hosting a monthly dinner. Of course this always necessitated a hostess gift. All of us are comfortably off and at our age have everything (material) that we want or need. It drove me crazy because I was constantly being gifted with craft type items. I am just not into cutesy things and I had a difficult time coming up with items that I thought the other ladies would enjoy or use. I failingly ended up giving food items or fresh flowers. We all finally came to a consensus that we should stop doing hostess gifts and at Christmas put funds together to donate to a charity. Thank goodness! The pressure every month is off and we can give to those in need. It's a win/win....See MoreOne Million Pillowcase Challenge
Comments (3)I completed 3 for our local hospital peds unit and will try and make 3 each month for other groups. There is such cute novelty prints to select from; wish I could use up some scraps but I don't seem to have the yardage and I don't think most people want a lot of seams to lay on. A great project....See Morepatiencenotmyvirtue
