But, I am so glad that Freedom was completely repaired, that you received your check and that things are looking up. I hope you don't end up having to do battle with B of A; hopefully. If I were queen of the world, they would admit fault and settle with you.

Your hubby must be highly regarded at his company for them to make an offer of a transfer to Dallas. Even though he plans to retire soon, it is nice to have that option on the table.

Both Bud and I need to lose weight, but it would be hell, doing it the way you did. I just learned that cats should only lose 1-2 pounds per year. Their kidneys can't take it, losing weight faster than that.

Oh believe me, I need to lose many more lbs lol but I am glad to see some falling off. I agree the stress diet is a tough one, but all of them are. Hubby has lost a dramatic amount of weight (4 pants sizes), and he was not a large guy. It has me worried. We are both scheduled for our blood work up and chest x-rays. I will be scheduling surgery very soon to repair my hernia which I have had to put off due to this mess.

This is very good news, Raven. This will allow you to fully move forward. Though I have to say that I have been in awe of your spirit throughout your ordeals.

What is the brand of wheelchair you purchased? All I remember is that it's bright yellow!

So glad things are moving forward for you. The 'flying off the market' thing predated the flood, I had 10 offers in two days, sold my house on the 3rd day and it sold a couple weeks prior to the flood. Approximately half the offers were over the asking price.

You have to be an aggressive fast buyer. Better yet, since you are such a nice person, find a realtor you like in your area who will call you right when a likely property is listed.

Raven. Good news about the check. Yea! Good news about FREEDOM. Not good news about you and Mia not being completely healthy. Get to the doctor for Mia and you dear.

Do you want to live in Dallas? Do you have family there or are they all in the Houston area? I'd take the transfer. The housing market might not be quite as tight there. Do a bit of research online.

I wouldn't want to move to Dallas again. Too many people and very aggressive traffic. I remember Houston having terrible traffic too, 40 years ago when I lived there. I want to live closer to the beach (Gulf) but then we have the hurricane issues. I am just enamored of the Gulf coast of Texas.

We lived in the Dallas area for years and got asked to move here for my husband to open the Houston branch of the company. They are now well established here so he does not have to be here now. He would be going back to the corporate headquarters in Dallas. We have lots of friends there and great doctors but I don't care much for the traffic or heat. I like the Houston outlying area. Love the Gulf coast but after the floods and devastation I am not as fond of living there as I once was. If we went back to the Dallas area it would be north side. We lived outside of Plano before where every property was a minimum of 2 acres. I don't like really close neighbors. But he would have a much longer commute.

Please send me some of the weight you've been losing since I am now down to 80 pounds. All in all your update is good news....the check, the leak in Freedom fixed, etc. Perhaps you should get the vet to check out Mia just to be on the safe side and you get all of your bloodwork done too. I don't envy you the surgery for hernia repair. Continue to keep us posted on what you intend to do about moving or staying in the area where you are.

Glad to read the update. TV stations were showing your area and how it's been three months and people are still suffering. Sad that the news drops coverage of areas hit by disasters. Hope next year is a way better year for you.

Linda I sincerely wish that was possible because I have plenty to share with you lol. I have a vet appointment tomorrow morning for Mia. She will have some blood work done and get a good check up. She is due for one of her shots too. She needs to put some weight on, I don't like seeing her this thin. She is eating well and drinking but having tummy distress.

This area is still like a war zone it's very depressing and I don't know if it will recover. Sad to see. I wish we could find out where those millions of dollars in donations for the victims went because no one I know got any.

Raven, since everything flooded so bad and all the sewers backed up, do you think she could be picking up something when she walks outside and then licks her feet?

You've both been through so much. Retirement may be more tempting right now, but...there's a lot to be said for NOT retiring. Might you move somewhere in Dallas that is not a terrible commute for now? Then you could leisurely look for a home *anywhere* when 'the commute' is not an issue.

Sherry, I have definitely considered that and it sure could be possible. We had everything power washed and used the solutions that were recommended to try to neutralize everything but who knows. That is the main reason I want to have her checked for any type of bacterial etc infections in her tummy. She had a bacterial infection once and had similar symptoms. I even bought her some tiny doggy shoes, but that was a waste of money lol. She would not move just stand there in a frozen position. Then kick her feet like she was doing the Hokey Pokey lol.

Hubby was trying to retire last year when that flood happened so he has been ready for a while now. He has been with them for 20 years, but they don't want him to retire.

Please let us know what the vet has to say after Mia is checked. And let us know how your bloodwork turns out too. I will be praying for good results for both of you and your hubby too. I know you take a lot of vitamins, so I sure hope you are taking some immune builders. Let us know also when you are scheduled for your hernia repair.

No, none of ours would of walked in shoes! Ever! Get them to check for giardia. Maybe, just wash her feet when she comes inside. It is probably just nerves, but it doesn't hurt to be sure.

We are back. I definitely had them check for giardia and they think she might have it again. They put her on a round of flagyl which works well for her. They took samples to send off. She has lost weight. She was 7 lbs and now is 5.8 lbs. The vet thinks that the changes in environment and the turmoil have a lot to do with it.

I only mentioned the retirement part because it is a major change for many men. Some people love the change immediately; some feel lost for a while without that 'normal'. Anyway, it's very nice to have the *choice*!

Hernia repair isn't usually a snap recovery, so I hope you can get more permanently settled before having it. You don't want to be tempted to be moving stuff around!

Raven thanks for the update! Take Dallas, as a temp option. Park freedom and start looking for something permanent. Maybe hubby can hang around as a consultant and only work a day or two a week?

Glad to hear things are looking up. This has been stressful for all of you including Mia. What does hubby want to do? I know some people that say retiring is the best thing they ever did, and others who never want to retire.
