Happy Thanksgiving day also to all Canadian Garden Web members and happy Columbus Day to our American friends. We will be having Thanksgiving on Monday at my daughters. My son-in-law, the chef, likes to put on dinner parties, so it will be quite a feed. I am spending the rest of the weekend cleaning up my garden and getting ready for winter. The forcast says we are supposed to get sn** next weekend. I hope not. Cheers Al

Thank you, I love my Northern neighbors, it's the only time I get to say that I live in the South, LOL. Here it was pumpkin pie, cheesecake, chocolate pie, homemade ice cream. Oh yeah, we had turkey too, LOL. Amanda woke up throwing up but came anyway and napped on the couch while the kids watched "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" courtesy of Netflix DVD. Ashley had one of those troublesome gallbladder attacks so she didn't eat much either. Madison played with her cousins, Mom and Elery had a couple of glasses of wine. We had lots of leftovers too, so we made up some plates and sent them to Ashley's co-workers who were stuck working emergency today and Kevin, who is pulling a double shift. CLBlakey, it was 55F and sunny here, a lovely Thanksgiving Day. With a wonderful husband, both my daughters and all my grandkids, I have a lot to be thankful for. Annie

I actually celebrated Thanksgiving with my family, mainly to show our grandchildren all the paper turkeys, pilgrims and pumpkins we brought back from our American half-year when their parents were small. It also gave me an opportunity to give my daughter the pumpkin pie she loves since her only American Thanksgiving. We were thankful, too, because she has had two job offers after being out of work for six months.

Seeing the old photos you took is interesting. Love seeing the old signage. I have never seen the Macy's parade, or more than a few minutes of it on TV. Guess I am a bit of a parade curmudgeon--most seem to be more fun to be in than to watch. The giant balloons never seemed interesting to me. I have wondered sometimes if it is more the watching it with someone special, or the crowd camaraderie, the size of the balloons in person, or simply the history of the parade that attracts. Or is it a one of those things where mishaps provide the excitement? I will watch some of the Rose Parade occasionally, but those are constructed and have artistry involved. They are colorful and varied. But it is more a background tv, glance at the one going by while I am in the room, type of watch. I know, parade heresy. I'll go sit in the corner now. :)
