As far as Furniture Ordering Direct I am never heard of them. As far as Hancock and Moore there is a lot of information online about this company and that they are a top quality product although one of the most expensive. If you have considered this company you must have some knowledge of them so I wonder why you would ask this question. As far as bad reviews. Keep in mind that a retailer can have 100 happy customers and 2 unhappy customers and the unhappy customers are often the ones that will post negative reviews. Also keep in mind that with social media in general anyone can say anything about anyone and in doing so they may have other motives about writing a poor review. As far as Hancock and Moore they are a well established company and not everyone can become a retailer for them. If they have selected a retailer to represent them they are worthy of consideration. Contact the retailers that you might consider and make a judgement for yourself if you feel comfortable working with that company.

This table RH makes in Vietnam, its mainly build from rubber wood (Para) the same tree that the sap is drained from to make latex rubber. At the end of its live cycle, the tree is cut and because it doesnt grow very straight its difficult to get long straight pieces of wood. So normally its cut in small pieces and glued together, preferably finger jointed. As you can see it the photo all the variances in the color. As I have mentioned in previous posts, any wooden furniture coming from SE Asia or other tropical climates, getting the moisture content too less than 12% is critical to prevent checking. And thats difficult to do for many manufacturers their. But rubberwood tends to check a bit less than other types of wood. As far as the quality of this table, I would say medium at best. Maybe someone else on the forum has purchased this table or one similar from RH can provide their experiences.

Mtnrdredux, I'm expecting shipment of that rug (though the runner, in the brown/green combo) from Overstock today. Looks like O.co's prices are better than Wayfair's for this particular line of rugs (called "Chrono" on O) though O is out of many sizes right now. When I first started looking they had several sizes in the gray. I almost ordered the gray/cream runner but knew it would be a stupid choice in our front hallway due to its pale color. Of course O's shipping is always a steal.

Tinker, could you share the manufacturer of your table? I'm really more concerned about what my eventual table looks like with a tablecloth off rather than on because we don't entertain much. I love intricate edging paired with more simply lined chairs. I guess I've always been more form before function (much to the consternation of DH, LOL). Because out entry is open to the living then dining rooms, I want to be careful with my selection of a table. Got stuck on this decision a few months ago and decided to shelve it and get started on painting the house. Now that the painting is completed I'm back to the dining room. Thanks everyone!
