Comments (5)We just had our "Christmas Tree Cutting" party. My whole family (15 of us) all go to a tree farm and cut down our Christmas trees. Then we go back to my mom and dad's house for lunch and games. This year we played quite a few games. 1. put lots of different objects on a tray, hairbrush, matches, watch, magazine etc. (about 20-25). Cover the tray with a towel. Give everyone a paper and pencil. Now take off the towel and give everyone about 10-15 seconds to look at the tray. cover the tray up again and have everyone write down all the things they remember. The person with the most number of things right is the winner. My sister ran this game this year and she even had some bonus questions to break a tie, like what time was on the watch, what colour was the hat of the guy in the picture. etc. 2. The other one that was lots of fun was to put everyone into teams. Give each team a pair of mittens. The object of this game is for each member on the team to put the mittens on, walk up to a table with a bowl of candy and unwrap a candy from the bowl. When they have unwrapped the candy, they pass the mittens to the next person in line. Put out one candy for every team member. We did it with candies wrapped in cellophane, but to make it harder I would use foil wrapped candies. I hope you have fun, we did. Comments (10)This year I am making a I-Spy game (large soda bottle filled with trinkets and table sale). I'll give each person a minute in a private area and they'll write down whatever they 'spy'. A few things will be worth more points if they find them. In the past I've done the following: The left/right game (instructions easily found on the internet). Card toss - take 10 to 15 assorted sized Christmas cards and let each player toss them towards a laundry basket about 7 to 10 feet away. Don't let anyone bend the cards. Harder than it looks to get the cards into the basket. Famous people game - Find pictures of famous people (including cartoon characters like Rudolph), print them all out on one sheet then make copies for each player. Give them about 5 minutes to see how many they get right. Stocking game - fill a stocking with small household items, tie the top and have players write down what they can feel....See MoreChristmas games

Comments (6)My family always plays that game at our Christmas Eve get-to-gather. Always fun and sometimes a lot of trading! A look back: I learned about the game at a church party, 60 years ago and it was called "White Elephant." One of the ladies in the group was a French War Bride and she didn't come to the party. Later when she was asked why she didn't come to the party she said she had looked every where in town and could not find a white elephant, so she didn't want to come without bringing something. No one had given a thought to the fact that this new comer to the States would not understand that term. Lesson learned. Overtime now I have heard the game called Dirty Santa and also recently Chinese Auction. Yanke Swap is brand new to me. What ever happened to White Elephant??...See More
