MBR Romans, shutters, cellular, or wood blinds - help!
Comments (10)What will your flooring and furniture be in this windowed area? How large is the M/R in total. I can't speak to wooden blinds at this point since I don't know what the rest of the room will look like. I lean toward Roman shades, you can lose a little at the top, but with so many windows that wouldn't dampen the impact of the curved wall or the light coming in through the windows. Agree with the shutters, very pricy, it's a certain look (like traditional) and I think it would close in your room. I don't prefer cellular shades unless they are behind some sort of valance, which would probably couldn't do with so many windows on a curve? But they do lend a comtemporary look. I'd say that you have a challenge because whatever you do on twelve windows will lend a far greater impact than if that treatment went on only one or two windows. So again, I'd go with the Roman shade, you can do a lot with fabric and trim. I think the cords would "disappear" from view after you got used to the look, and no one else would see them either....See MoreDo you like your cellular blinds?
Comments (16)We have cell shades on all of our windows. I ordered some from JCPenney's (Bali) and some no-name brand from an online site. I wouldn't recommend the latter. They just are not the same quality and DH and I curse them every time we lower them (they don't have the weight that the Bali do and need help lowering all the way). We have blackout shades in the master. We debated about that one but are extremely happy with them. All the rest of the shades are light filtering. June is our moth season but, after two years of living w/our cell shades, I haven't noticed stains from the moths. Our shades are only down at night so aesthetics isn't really an issue for us. If we needed light control during the day, I'd probably have gone w/some type of blinds. We have no doubt the cell shades help w/insulation given our heating bills with and w/out the shades....See MoreCellular (Accordion) Blinds for Large Sliding Door?
Comments (13)I'm not installing them myself, as I did the online window blinds. I'm buying them from Home Depot, so the onus is on them if there's an issue. The contracted company that is doing the measurements is doing the installation. They will be inside mount and as far as the stacking, it will be a non-issue. It's a three panel slider but it was a custom installation...the panel on the right is fixed. The center and left panels slide left and are "hidden" behind the lanai wall. Thanks foe the feedback. I will consider the 3/4" cell for better proportion to the large opening. Oh, and no kids or pets in this home :) Tipsy...See MoreCellular blinds, where to purchase?
Comments (5)Hunter Douglas is a great product line but it is on the higher end because it's higher quality and a reputable company that stands behind their brand. I would get a 2nd quote for Hunter Douglas from a local company to see how the pricing compares. If you visit the Hunter Douglas website, their is a dealer locator tool that you can type in your zip code and find a local store in your area. Alta is a decent brand. It's an economical line of shades. We used to carry them and had pretty good luck with them. We switched exclusively to Hunter Douglas a few years ago because the quality of HD was higher, they are made here in the USA, and come with a 7 year warranty on cords instead of the 5 year that Alta offers....See Moregrapefruit1_ar
