If we do fashion, (or art) I would be willing to set it up because I think it's been a while. I have some thoughts about how I would like to do it. I don't think it necessarily has to be current fashion, although current fashion is so diverse, that covers an awful lot of bases. What I suggest is to use fashion as an inspiration or a particular garment as inspiration and this can drive the color scheme or the style of kitchen, and it could be done as a relatively subjective interpretation, or as objectively as you want: Meaning a Menswear kitchen could have a tan floor, navy cabinets, brass hardware, a striped backsplash and leather seating--as a classic "blue blazer" kitchen. A bridal dress could inspire an all Ivory kitchen. I would *not* want the kitchen to take a singular fabric from the fashion world and simply use it as a textile in the kitchen. The Idea is to reinterpret the fashion in the materials used for kitchens. I don't think a historical fashion needs to inspire a historical kitchen. This Ikat dress from the 18th c. could inspire a contemporary kitchen, for example.

Purplepansies Blue Louise--I love the combination of the copper brown and the blue. Florantha Starry Night--Good job finding swirly tile. I tried this exercise, but was stumped searching for swirly tile. I love the dark blue drapes. Purplepansies Approaching Thunder Storm--Oooh, I love the artwork! You did a great job of capturing the colors and the mood of the painting. I love the magma supreme granite. Honorbiltkit Vuillard--Also a beautiful painting, full of interesting details and patterns. You captured the color of the rug in the painting, and the painting you chose for your design does a great job of mimicking the painting in the painting. If that makes any sense. Palimpsest Vuillard--You also did a great job of capturing the colors of the painting, playing up the neutrals a bit compared to Honorbiltkit. The floor--is it Marmoleum?--mimics the colors of the rug. Style-wise, the table is unexpected, but I really like it in the design. Pricklypearcactus Lanadscape with Butterflies--I like the interplay of colors in your kitchen just as much as in the original painting. I just want to say how very much I've enjoyed this thread. I liked the artwork, I liked the kitchens, and I liked all the creative thinking that went into putting them together.

I wouldn't overthink it. Nice dining room table in the right size for the space, china cabinet or some kind of storage on the big blank wall. I personally would use the low wood table that is there now, for a coffee table in the living area, to break up the blackness, but YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary). Then I'd turn two of the armchairs to face the seating area around the fireplace, with or without a little occasional table between them, depending on if I could scrounge something from somewhere else in the house. Don't know what you can re-purpose to somewhere else or glean from somewhere else, but I am all about that. I'd spend my money on the dining room furniture. Store or put the other things somewhere else. For the dining room set, shop on Craigslist or look for sales at furniture places. Your house looks to be somewhat modern and traditional, gads of choices out there for you.

My boyfriend put a tv there for who knows what reason (bachelor at the time) but that would be taken down and the blue cabinet would move. It’s a huge open area with living room on the other side. The open space area is about 12’x13’.
