zantedeshia (calla lily) questions

I was going to ask these of the seller I bought from online but they have disappeared. I have 2 questions. I am in zone 9b in California. My Callas are in pots and callas are hardy in this zone. This is the first winter I will have had them.
Question #1: Each of the 3 colors had a 'mat' of approx. 20 bulbs still fastened together. I planted the mats each in a separate pot without separating the mat. They bloomed beautifully. I'm wondering if I should separate them to one bulb pieces or what and then plant several in one pot.
Question #2: I planned to leave them potted in soil for the winter. I have read two opinions. One is to keep them barely moist. One is to leave them dry until they sprout. What should I do about winter watering? I did decrease watering when they started to die back and they died to the ground and are currently dormant.
Thank you in advance.
