Subbed yesterday, so I went grocery shopping this morning. Dropped Mom's groceries off for her and visited awhile. She lives down the street 3 doors from me, and is 96. Also she had a computer problem to fix. I get tickled when she says, "they won't let me do ......" Who does she think "they" are? The computer police?

Then I got out in all the shopping traffic to get shoes and makeup. It looks like everybody is Christmas shopping. Horrible traffic. Stopped by library to get 2 books on hold for me. Too cold to work outside today and 40 mph winds.

I will probably do some cleaning today as I will be having Thanksgiving, and subbing Monday and Tuesday.

Changing shifts sounds very hard on the body! And then to have days off and need to readjust. I have been retired 1 1/2 years and I still get up at 5:30 am. Arrrg!

kath...I remember the sleep depravation of rotating shifts.

ladypat...X-mas shopping is why the traffic was so bad? I keep thinking it's normal. Too many people have moved here.

DH did it again. He pulls out his cell phone, shows me a photo and says he's holding these French doors for me he's demoed out of an office building. Do I want them? YES! He's installing them here. My French doors are yellowed oak. No detail on them. These are glass slated, dark brown colored.

Ladypat1, why do you get up so early?! I can't wait to retire. It wasn't nearly as cold as I thought it was when I finally got outside, low 60s. By the time I did my shopping the rain had started and the air felt cooler, although, my phone is saying it's warmer: 65?

Lauren got off work and helped with the groceries and then left for Louisville to see a movie with her boyfriend. I hate her driving in that wind and rain. The rain isn't coming down hard yet but I keep getting notifications on my phone and now they are expected to going until 8 pm instead of 6.

Severe storms and warm temps=tornado weather. I hate this kind of weather. Used to love storms when I was younger but not anymore.

It's been raining here ALL day - and not just a sprinkle but heavy rain most of the time. On the way home from town around noon, the ditches were full of rain and lots of water standing in the fields. Right now it's dark out and pouring rain with flood warnings.

One of the outside cats must have found another house to wait out the rain in, he never showed up at 5:30p to go to the cellar with his buddy. At least I hope that's where he is. The barn door is ajar just in case if he wants to go in there.

I forgot to check the little ditch I dug for rain off from the downspouts. Sometimes it gets clogged with leaves. If that happens, my gutters tend to overflow.

Nicole- you are so lucky! Those are beautiful doors! Good husband!!

Kathy- I just haven't got out of the habit of getting up early, and am still subbing a couple of times a week. In the summers, I just get my sleep schedule adjusted to getting up about 7 am, and then school starts again.

schoolhouse- I bet he is somewhere warm and dry.

Thanks. I checked the back porch at 10pm. and here he came a'running - you think wet dog smells bad? Anyhoo, got a flashlight and took him around to the cellar with his supper. His buddy was happy to see him but it wasn't mutual. ha So now all are safe and sound in my household again.

Boy the wind is really blowing out there, plus rain. Lots of flood warnings for our county and surrounding counties. Some roads are closed due to flooding. This old school was built on high ground so I don't have to worry too much.

Glad he's home Schoolhouse. It was a 12 hour work day for me, very busy but didn't go by as fast as I had hoped.

It's raining again today and expected to rain for the weekend and into Monday. Rain forests do rain very well.

Sad news. Still no sign of my cat. Chilli disappeared Monday night and it appears he's gotten in some kind of bad trouble. We're heartbroken as we lost our other cat 2 months ago as well. River was a feral but was coming in and going for walks with us, Chilli and the dogs all the time for 6 months. I'm afraid he got killed by the wildlife here.

Chilli never stayed outside at all but he was here then wasn't. No one saw him go. I called and called... I haven't been sleeping.

Oh no, Yeonassky. Have you put up fliers? Our newest cat disappeared for 4 days and nights and we were sure that she'd been killed by traffic, dogs or coyotes. Then she turned up in my neighbor's yard fine and healthy. It was the fliers (although I posted on Nextdoor and the Animal Shelter's FB page) and went out constantly to call her. The neighbor's kiddo said 'Mommy, that's the cat on the signs'.

Yes to fliers, checking local and not so local SPCA type places, CL, walking for miles and calling till I'm hoarse and knocking on neighbour's doors. I have a huge sign at the end of my driveway too. The SPCA lady said to put his kitty litter out so have done that as well.

Today I got up and did a few chores, went to the gym and then to a memorial service for my stepdad's stepdad. Went to Aldi's after that and bought groceries. Came home and made a pan of mac and cheese for my son and his gf to take to a Friendsgiving. Too bad we did not have Friendsgiving back in the day. Me and my daughter ran to Bath and Body Works to get some of the $2.50 hand soap. I also bought a few Christmas gifts since they had Buy 3, get 3 and I had $10.00 off (saved $62.00).

Thomas has stayed away for a week or more a couple of times. Downright worrisome. But he always comes back, hope Chili does too.
