Help me choose hardware for my wall unit
Comments (0)Our next project is the living room and I desperately need help with hardware choice. I forgot how much I like it hereâ¦can I stay? Moderators canâÂÂt kick me out for cross posting right? It's been awhile. I posted on Home Decor too but Kitchens always has a different feel to it. More focussed topics perhaps? More obsessive detailed types like myself? Lol Thanks in advance! Comments (5)You have a wonderful space to work with. I agree with suggestion to add a few tables and a sofa table behind the sofa. I would like to see the library built-in reconfigured to only run along the wall shared by the kitchen--so that essentially your kitchen wall has built-ins running all along that wall with the exception of the entryway--you may need to add a few pieces for it, but will be well worth it. As is, the built-ins look choppy. Overall I like your arrangement of furniture with the addition of a few tables end tables and a sofa table behind the sofa; however if you want to form multiple seating areas, I'd divide into two groups to either side of the fireplace. My only concern with that is that you not block the aisles to your french doors. I'd make a clean pathway to the pool with some type of water resistant runner. We were just at a pool party yesterday and even though the kid's dried off you could just see all the wet footprints. How do you entertain? Is it a lot of indoor and outdoor with swimming? Do you serve drinks from the bar? If there is a lot of traffic to you bar, perhaps you could move closer to one of the french doors. Does anyone actually use the bar chairs or are guests more included to stand in groups and chat at the bar?...See MoreDesperately need help with living room furniture arrangement
Comments (79)Thanks groveraxle for the room layouts. If you look at 1 and 2, you will see a nice walkway from front to kitchen without having to walk through the conversation area. I like that. What I don't like is the inability to watch tv sitting perpendicular to the tv and fireplace. This is a tricky room since the wall is offset from the fireplace/tv. Have you thought of having 4 swivel chairs around a round center coffee table centered on the fire place? It is a cozy sitting arrangement and chairs can be pivoted toward the tv when watching tv. This really won't work for the two closes to the fireplace/tv because of the awkward up angle but it will work for the other two. The other option .. have you thought of two low backed curved couches? One on each side of the fireplace? It would create a cozy seating area and still put seating facing the TV. I couldn't find a curved couch quickly but here is the idea but using a sectional. Obviously this wouldn't work because the size is too big and the lounge pieces but the idea is there if you can see it. The walkway remains free. You get a cozy seating area for both TV and fireplace and you don't have to find complementary pieces if you feel better having matching pieces....See MoreDesperately need help with difficult living room!
Comments (2)If you did built-in wall around the fireplace you could put the tv to the right and probably still get a 50" tv there. That is probably the best solution. or put to consoles on either side of fireplace then face the sofa to that wall swivel chairs would be great too. then you will still have some space for a small play area or more storage...See MoreIndigo Rose
