Well I am back to update this thread. Finally starting on this project. Got a little busy and sidetracked but its now a go. Gutted the room (right side) this past Wednesday. Today we finished rough plumbing and got the wall between left (toilet and shower) and the laundry/vanity side framed. Decided on a version of plan 2 above. Vanity (4 ft single sink) on left. Immediately on right will be linen closet then washer then dryer. About 44-48 inch clearance between left and right side. Plenty of space. Already a nice difference just getting that new separating wall up. Looking to do electric one night this week, frame new door opening and closet next weekend then sheetrock it all back up. Moving quickly, only about 6 hours of me and one friend doing the work so far. Excited to get this done. I need to pick out a vanity and new paint colors. Pics next weekend.

Thanks, I was thinking if we did fit in a shower & toilet, we'd definitely want some way to make it more private. Right now there's actually a wall that goes from above the garage door on the left to the kitchen doorway. I was thinking if we kept that, maybe we could make it a pocket door so that it could be open most of the time unless someone needed privacy? This is what the current layout is. We have the freezer in the room labeled Util. and it's so cramped and hard to open the washer & dryer.

This is one attempt. I am not familiar with the regulations nor the dimensions of europeean appliances/bath fixtures etc. This might not work, I don't know. Maybe the distance between the toilet and the bidet is too far. I placed them that way so you don't see them when you enter the bathroom but it may not be practical. Also I wonder if the shelves you have in your kitchen are inside the pillar. In the floor plan below, I completely remove the shelves: If you don't need the powder room:

We like having a water closet also. If you end up building a 16' vanity, which is enormous, you could build linen areas on either side and a pull-out laundry. If you want a centered sit-down make-up area, you could have that also. 16' is a huge expanse of space to work with. The top parts of the linens/towers could be set-back if you want, or flush with the rest of the vanity box fronts. You could have loads of drawers, no need for a small linen next to the shower. Save that spot for towel hooks or a bar and/or perhaps some nice art. I have a tower, and so if you decide you want them, have your fabricator make you 2 extra pieces of stone, with the same edge profile as your counter, and place them on top of your main counter, then your tower sits on that. It's like placing your tower on top of a cutting board. I learned this from a designer who showed pictures on HOUZZ of water-damaged towers because over the years, water will eventually damage the wood. This way, your wood tower is just so slightly elevated from your main counter, and it will not get damaged by water over the years. You can also put your electrical low, turned sideways and outside of the towers, so that you don't have to have it in your backsplash, wall or mirror. And you can put electrical inside to charge toothbrushes, razors and such. For your laundry area, it can be a pull-out, or a tilt-out. If you are having custom cabinets made, your cabinet builder can make the laundry area look like real drawers, like my picture above. The other side can be actual drawers and provide you lots of storage. In the middle you could either have a make up area, or another bank of drawers. I don't have a make up are in the bathroom, but I think people usually drop the height down for that area if they do it.
