There is already a lot going on in your space. I would stick with a solid color or a very subtle pattern that reads solid. The color should be close in shade to the wall color. You can add some oomph to your curtains with texture.

I like the 2nd ones rawketgirl posted with the rest of your furnishings, but I think, since you have a lot of texture already and some pattern, I might look for draperies that are the same color as your walls. They would look nice with your rug and soften the window, while fading into the background. Or maybe that soft green with a cream border? Or a cream with the green border.

I really like the new chandelier with the dining chairs (which are lovely) that will be around your table. I can see that a crystal chandelier isn't really your style, nor for the style of your furniture.

I don't know if you've purchased your sofa yet, but I, too, was thinking that maybe something less "puffy" might work well for you. The color is very nice, though.

I like the idea of a solid color or a very subtle pattern that reads solid. Something with a subtle pattern not too busy. Hubby and I have very different tastes. Here are some that we both liked. We seem to both prefer the burgundies and greys.

I think the colors and styles you posted are probably pretty readily available (or something close) at Target or Bed Bath Beyond. I'd go there and pick out some gray and burgundy choices and bring them home to try - see what you like with your walls/rug/couch, etc. Maybe buy a tension rod to use to hang them temporarily to get a feel for them at the window. Then order your favorite along with the proper rod to hang them.

Hello. In my opinion, curtains are not necessary here at all.

@Milano. Curtains are so necessary. Evenings, with the light or TV on, all my neighbors can see into my living room and dining room. Do not like that.

@Olychick - That thought popped in my head last night and so I was planning to do that.

My previous curtains were on rings. I can do that but prefer the grommet option. I do not like curtain clips. I plan to use my existing rods.

I just noticed that you already have a rod hung - that was my only reason for suggesting a tension rod, to try out different draperies before you purchased a rod. But now I see you don't have to!

I know you don't want to hear this, but I like the look of the darker chairs so much that I would even think about refinishing or painting the other ones darker. But that's just my taste. They really make the table top pop with the color contrast, and so would the chair detail. But easier said than done too. Anyway, just a thought, I could be wrong . . .

@lynartist - I like the chandelier but still prefer glass shades to lamp shapes. It does look great in your dining room. Beautiful room.

@pinkmountanin - I didn't mind the dark with light table, I just didn't like those chairs with the table somehow. Now I am thinking of darkening the original chairs. Yes, easier said than done. It will have to be done overtime. Maybe even two-tone them so the design in the middle is still in maple. More so because it's more work. Something to think about down the road.

Your colors and furniture are definitely strong, so I'd go with off-white linen sheers, very full, hanging on the rods, but I'd move the rods up closer to the ceiling. Then I'd add matchstick blinds for privacy.
