cushions get a memory foam donut

Chisue Amiee has air cushions. They do have little valves to fill with air to comfort level. Hers is from the ROHO group. Its been yesrs since I've had to buy any as hers has lasted about 12 years now.

They arnt cheap but like I said Amiees has lasted at least 12 years. They come with a washable zip on cover.

I have two artificial hips and no meat on my behind, so I carry a soft pillow everywhere I go. I can not sit on any hard surface. Perhaps you could find a nice soft foam pillow. I don't know if medical stores might carry some or not.

Don't get a foam pillow. they squish down and aren't any more comfortable than no pillow. I'm sitting on two different ones right now, one with gel, and neither of them are anything I would buy again. I also have that one that's split and supposedly your tail bone will fit in the open space. I don't like it either.

Maybe it's the wrong foam? If you buy a 100% latex foam pillow, it will not bottom out (no pun intended), nor will it develop an indentation. Latex pushes back and suspends your bottom off the surface. It's like a new pillow every day. We got one for my MIL and it lasted for several years until her death last year. When we tossed it, it was still as firm as day one.

A friend got me a Miracle Bamboo. I have no idea how long it will last, but it helps a lot. I also cannot sit on hard or very firm surfaces.

Another cushion I bought and find very helpful is something like a hammock pillow. It's rectangular, perhaps 28" x 10" and rather puffy and swishy.

I'm sure mamapinky's air cushion would be comfortable. Maybe not so portable though, and expensive. I don't know if *I* will last 12 years! hahaha

Mine is foam...cut out area in middle back so tail bone is not sat on directly....sloped toward the front so is easier on thighs. The foam is fairly firm so it does not squash down too much.

I'm glad you asked this question, Chisue. I like the latex suggestion too as I know latex mattress toppers are good and don't mash down. I'm sure the other suggestions here can be helpful too--anything to cushion those bones.

Brushworks' cushion looks good too. I like that it helps with "achy butt." Brushworks, does your MIL have the 2" or the 3"?

It was the 2", firm.

I was thinking.....can you give your doctor a quick call for recommendations. Take into account that some matetials can cause skin breakdown.
