HELP? Bathroom Tiles
Comments (1)The problem is twofold. First, it's a messy job that'll end up looking like hell if you don't clean it up well (unfortunately, cleaning it up well will also usually mean you've emptied quite a bit out of the joints). Secondly, what's left IN the joints has a tendency to shrink a bit, which means you'd have to go through it all over again. It can be done, but it's not anything I'd want to go through....See More***PLEASE HELP*** Bathroom Tile Pattern ***PLEASE HELP****
Comments (4)You are brave, I could never let someone tile anything, unless I was able to check the layout daily! I hate the look of 1/3 offset, so I prefer to go with stacked when there is no other choice. I find the repeating stair-step pattern busy and prefer the straight simpler lines of the stacked pattern. You need someone to do a scale drawing of the layout to get a feel for how the patterns will work. Next best thing is if the tile installer will prop some tiles up in the different patterns and take some photos for you. Match the grout to each tile color. Good luck!...See MoreHelp with bathroom tiles
Comments (28)I am not a professional, so this is just a gut reaction from a homeowner, but I would think that a more modern floor tile would be better, not a traditional hex size and shape. If you want hex, go to 3" size. I would think that a mosaic of squares would be good, too. For color, I would chose a color from one of the veins in the wall tile, maybe a medium gray. I don't like white floors with mostly white wall tiles because I believe that the eye needs the contrast of a darker floor with white walls in a place where people are not always wearing their glasses. It helps with orientation as we age. But then, I am nearsighted!...See MoreHelp choosing bathroom tile?
Comments (22)Thank you! Yes, I hope we stay physically young too.... In all honesty, we had wanted a separate shower but due to significant budget constraints had to cut it. That decision is so far in the rear view there is no possible way to revisit it, at this point -- it would make way more sense to live with the current layout, hopefully for 20+ years, and then redo the bathroom when needed. We may not have that choice, but at this point there is no way to put the shower in (and we simply don't have the funds.) With that said -- thank you lala and stiley! Stiley, the images you provided are super helpful and all gorgeous. I snuck in to the bathroom to see if I could get a better sense of the tiles in the room and I have to admit I find the green tiles to be so beautiful. Does anyone think they would work with the light floor tile (i.e. is my assumption that the green would have to go with dark, and the blue with light, unfounded)? Also, I am really stuck on the matte vs. shiny question. Appreciate any feedback there!!...See Morecindyb1956
