Two-headed "Old Man Cactus"
Comments (7)Yooperlady, I've experienced the same problem on two separate occasions, one as others have already mentioned the pictures are considered to BI G, what I needed to do ( I was using my cell phone camara.) I needed to crop my picture by hitting the button on the side of my phone and at the same time hit the button on the front of my phone. Oh Brother that can sound confusing but its really easy. I would of never figured it out but my son told me how. Ok so the button on the side that usually turns your phone on an the button on the front right in the middle. Press them both at the same time and you'll hear a clicking sound THEN when you press the "CHOOSE FORUM " Button it will say FILE, PRESS that button then select the picture you desire to use then press "Done" and start by tapping the box where you'll type your message. It's really simple but it sure sounds difficult ð That's all I was able to do is post comments but No pictures, hope this helps solve the problem. My phone is a GALAXY 5 SPORT if that helps. Comments (4)Thank you guys, so much, for your help. I went out and did some pressure tests on the cactus. I guess I've let it dry out well enough, because I didn't feel any mush, but it looks like about half the roots on one side of the cactus are gone. I can lift up half of the plant, but the other side is still anchored. If it is rot, it doesn't seem to be spreading. Do you tnink it best that I just let it continue to dry out for 3-4 weeks and then resume monthly watering? Since the rot isn't spreading, do you think it's going to be safe? If the rot spreads, I'll do the surgery to save the plant though. I'll probably need more advice at the time. Thanks again!...See MoreOld man cactus repot - gritty mix?
Comments (7)I do not grow cacti, so can't speak much about specific watering frequency. But I expect 1:1:1 gritty mix indoors would be too wet for a desert cactus. Best to increase the amount of grit and decrease the bark or napa. Make sure you sift out the tiny particles. An 8" pot is quite large, but I suppose it depends how fat the cactus is. Moving up just an inch or two in pot increases volume significantly (often 50-100% more). To determine watering frequency, I recommend caring for it yourself for several weeks, if possible. For friends I often use a different/less demanding mix and it takes me some time to figure out the frequency (or reasonably closely)....See MoreOld man cactus still young.
Comments (7)Is that some type of Aeonium growing around the base of your cacti? Nice looking plants, all of them. I'm going to go out on a limb here...Phoenix area? I might've planted some if I'd have known they'd grow that tall when I lived there....See Moretrpnbils
