Advice for bathroom vanity lighting fixtures for small office?
Comments (3)Thanks for the reply. When I saw no one initially respond, I went ahead and just bought these off bellacor. 1) Kichler Lege Brushed Nickel Three Light fixture (it was on clearance for $109 but is back up to $218) for the narrow alcove. The Canarm Lyndi Brushed Nickel Four-Light Vanity Light for the bathroom (also $109). I decided to go with a wider fixture since the bathroom is bigger. The 3 light fixture just seemed too narrow at 23" wide (compared to 30" for this 4 light one). And this Designers Fountain Brushed Nickel Flush Mount with Milk Acrylic Lens ($68 on clearance) for the overhead light in the bathroom: I figured the brushed nickel/contemporary look would work and made sure the bulbs weren't halogen (the overhead one is a T9 fluorescent bulb)....See MoreBathroom Lighting Advice needed - how many recessed lights in 5x9?
Comments (9)Don't do a recessed light above the sink, you will get shadows. Don't do ONLY a recessed light above the sink. I also used pretty glass tile in the showers and it looks really nice when illuminated with 2 lights and dimmed just a bit. Ambiance lighting for when guests use the full bath downstairs! That sounds so nice! Two additional thoughts, not related to the above note: As you plan your lighting, consider your color scheme. If you're going with today's trendy lots-of-white, maybe-some-gray color scheme, light's going to bounce off those stark whites and could feel harsh. On the other hand, if you're using a softer, darker color scheme, those darker colors will "absorb" some of the light; so you'd need to ask whether you'd need more light fixtures. I like to read in the tub, so I definitely plan to have a light of some sort "behind me" for that purpose....See MoreLight fixture recommendations? General bathroom lighting advice?
Comments (1)Here is one in chrome that extends 9 inches. http://www.destinationlighting.com/item/capital-lighting-capital-vanities-chrome-bathroom-light/P1452623 We went with this one in brushed nickel that extends 9.5" and have it with the lights down. http://www.destinationlighting.com/item/feiss-lighting-hamlet-satin-nickel-bathroom-light/P1523323 There are some out there and I am happy to help if you give me details on what you are looking for. I went through this search earlier this year and spent weeks looking. We have a surface mounted medicine cabinet by Bertch that sticks out only about 4 inches. There might be other medicine cabinets. I went through that search too....See Moresmall guest bathroom need tile advice
Comments (1)These questions are mostly going to be opinion/preference as they are aesthetic in nature. Some of it depends on whether you're going for a traditional or modern look. Personally I don't like stacked subway tiles, so I would stagger. If you do go with white subway tile, small hexagonal floor tiles, white with some black, pair really well and are durable. As far as height goes, if you stay 4+ inches above the sink, it will double as a back splash....See MoreAlexandra
