I put in complete kitchen UCLs using LED strips from Environmental Lighting, at the suggestion of some members on this forum. Sales people great to deal with, good advice, and the install was relatively easy (DIY) Mounted the light bars at the front of the cabinets, They are about 3/8" thick. Had my electrician run 14/2 wiring to each wall of cabinets, from a central location in the crawl space, where the transformer is located. Then I ran the thin wire leads from each light along the light bar into the cabinet, where I terminated everything in a shallow box on the back wall of the cabinet. One switch on sink backsplash controls the 24 volt transformer and controls all lights. I did not use a dimmer, but you could by upgrading the transformer and switch. My builder put in 8 of these in our kitchens(https://www.amazon.com/Halo-H995ICAT-Housing-Air-Tite-Shallow/dp/B0094GWFYK/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8) and we would want to use a standard screw in base so we could use gold specular reflector trims. Since the H995ICAT comes with a orange male adaptor, i am thinking of adding a female orange adaptor and then strip the pigtails of a edison base light socket and connect the pigtails to the female adaptor. Hi Jim, thanks for taking the time to respond. I am a newby about current lighting options and have already spent far too much time ordering and returning lights. Yes, I currently have 4" cans with LED inserts. I looked at the Soraa lights and while they look great they do not offer a bulb that will work with my current Halo cans. Then cans that I have are dedicated LED with the orange quick connector that plugs directly into the light module. Regular screw type base bulbs or G10 style will not work. That's why I was hoping the Elco light would work as it has the same connector, although it only comes in 3000K. Halo does have some new options that look nice but they run about $90.00 per light and I have 32 to change out. The 3000K might be OK for kitchen and bath but I might need something warmer in the bedrooms .

@Patricia Colwell Consulting, thank you, contractor has said the same-just wait and get used to it. I'm very light sensitive, always have been, so LED has been tough for me-but I don't want a yellow glow, so good to know on that! Maybe I'll try 2700 in living and 3000k in kitchen, out kitchen is very white, so I don't want it to feel too sterile. Right now we just have old canned bulbs in there and the light is fine, actually quite bright (some of them might be LED bulbs now that I think about it). Thanks!
