Food processor question.

I went to use my new toy, a Hamilton Beach FP. It's not a fancy one, didn't cost much. Never had one. So, I had bought some whole rolled oats on line and used them in an overnight recipe I use. Because they are whole, they didn't soak the milk up like the quick oats did. The quick oats are more chopped up. So I thought hey, I'll just grind them a bit in the FP. However, the instructions say:

However, to maintain peak performance, do not use your FP for the following: grinding grain, coffee beans, or spices.

What exactly will it hurt? Is it going to dull the blades? Could I use my blender? (which would take a lot longer)

TIA
