Does anyone else do this?
Comments (25)hmmm..I have posted a few times ( maybe more than a few) when I had had a glass of wine ( or more) and let my thoughts flow through my fingers. I was then taken aback at the wonderful responses to what I thought were excesses best left in my pillow ! Then there are the threads where I dearly want to say something so I type it and get it out of my system and then never post it. Very cathartic and also self-serving..I don't want the flack or comments that would come from posting. That is why I haven't posted anymore to the "growing older" thread. I have a lot of thoughts but they are my own and I don't have the energy to get into the discussion. I think that explains a lot of my "no posts" . I have a limited amount of interest in other's opinions now that I am in my 60's. I know what I know and I am receptive to other's , to a degree, but only to a degree. I have no energy for controversy or antagonistic discussions. I used to , believe me. I could go all night long. Now I will sit by the pool with DH or by the campfire with friends and nary a word that is disruptive. We seek out peace. I suppose there are those that would say it is the "ostrich sticking his/her head in the sand". So be it. I don't care. I used to...stopped that too :) c...See MoreDoes anyone else do this?
Comments (10)Hi deb---09, It is so funny you brought this up! I lost my Momma in August 2008 and have missed her every second of every day she has been gone. I have a distant relative and her mother is in the last stages of cancer. Their relationship has been relatively decent and when on the last two occasions she has been to visit me, she has complained about how hard it is taking care of her mother and the stress it has had her under, etc. They are mean to one another at this time! Having been in her shoes I understand her frustrations but she commented to me the other day that it is driving her crazy and she just wishes she would go. At that very moment, I felt SO cheated! I would give everything I own to have a second of wiping my Momma's brow, stroking her forhead just one more time, getting her something.....anything!!! My advice to her was this......you may not see the joy in it now but try to remind yourself to value every second you may have with her because when she is gone your world will NEVER be the same again. Your days will not be as bright, time will take on a whole new meaning. Time with my Momma is one thing I can never have again.....I cannot buy it back with any amount of money I have or with anyone else's money. Take a good long look at your life and take stock of the people you value most and those are who you invest your time in. She taught me the most important things in life and I only wish I could share with her the latest lessons I learned from her. .....So I try to make her proud in the way I live now. I make sure the people I care about know it and I spend as much time with them as I can. Thanks Momma! Thank you all for allowing me to share with you one of the most amazing people I have ever known! Blessings to all.... Lisa...See MoreDecorating on a dime. Anyone else shopping deals?
Comments (20)I've been debating either painting or gelstaining my oak bath cabinets for months. My husband prefers the stained look, but from what I've seen, unless you use the java color, getting an even color with gelstains is not easy. Your white cabinets look great, I plan to do mine in a cream shade. As a bargain hunter myself, I can't really justify new cabinets just because the old ones are oak. We bought quality, all solid, in excellent condition except that they are the dreaded honey oak color. Your white cabinets look so clean and bright, it's inspired me to paint mine in the spring. My current project is a tear out/retile job in our other bathroom, which is showing signs of age and looks very dated. I guess a house is never really "finished", you just move from one project to the next....See MoreFall Clothes Shopping....anyone else tired of all the drab?
Comments (40)Too funny Kswl! All solids? I've never really thought about that but I wear a ton of prints, florals, stripes, etc. I do love my solids to wear my scarves with. I love scarves and wear them often in cooler weather. I have a couple of gauzy ones I will wear in spring/summer. If I don't have a scarf on I will more than likely have on a funky necklace. One thing I will note, I do not wear black up against my face. Too stark and washes me out. I do not wear yellows, oranges (I HATE orange but love a pinky coral), browns, mossy greens, etc. (earth tones) other than some shades of brown pants. Thankfully those colors do not look good on me. I don't use them in our home either! Lynn, I had my colors done years ago and I am a winter. I don't think black is drab at all. It's fashionable! But of course, it makes a difference what you wear with your black....See Morelittlebug zone 5 Missouri
