Definitely need chairs too, and a large piece of art behind the sofa. Maybe think about some nice roman blinds on the windows to make the space more cozy.

You definitely need more color in the room, that could come from the art above the couch and some throw cushions to pick up on those colors. Your rug looks like it has some grey/blue in it, so go with that as an accent.

Tall plant would be great as well. Side table and lamp beside a chair, placed under that painting to the left of the TV.

I would recommend some sort of art work behind the couch as well as some nice curtains to ad some color to the room. I agree about needed chairs as well. Honestly the rooms not bad at all, it's get a good start just needs some finishing touches :)

Iam trying to find a mirror for the wall that I saw at Home Goods but, it was cracked. I dont know what this type of mirror is called

I forgot to mention I have a coat closet under the stairs with shoe racks so the kids take off their shoes and walk it across the room that's why I didn't order a big bench. But, they need a place to sit and put on their shoes.

Forget furniture. I would frame in a closet.

Just remember one thing about big decorative mirrors: they will usually just reflect another wall part of the room and often won't do anything for the space. I like that intricate mirror art piece, but almost always I'd go for actual art over mirrors.

Most definitely, the design challenge for living rooms that have no foyer and is a walk thru room is to create that cosy feeling. The configuration of your room should be flipped. The long sleek sofa should be on the long sleek wall. By relocating the sofa, a foyer is created with a sofa table under the window with the bench under it and a closed wood cabinet backing up the sofa. Walking into a solid piece of wood furniture will ground the space and define the seating.

There is 4'-0" clearance from the front door wall and the edge of the sofa and don't forget that everything is low (30" - 33") so there isn't an obstruction. Also creating the foyer forces a specific space for all that stuff we all walk in with when we get home.

In the plan note that the blue line indicates the tv (sorry for moving all those wires). The red lines indicate art/mirrors. By relocating the tv on the staircase wall, it allows easy access to the closet under the stairs, creates a reading nook at the window, and allows room for another lounge chair and ottoman near the stairs. It looks good, too. Consider painting the wall behind the tv from the window to the staircase an interesting color, wallpaper or wall treatment. this way that wall will be pleasing to look at.

Here's the plan, the best I could figure out without measurements. Looks like a very big sofa so a 12' sofa is in the plan. The rug should be a 9 x 12 in front of the sofa and a runner at the front door running side to side.Of course you will have to verify the measurements to make sure this will work. The nice thing about furniture is that you can move it around! Hope this helps.

The art/mirror composition you like would work so well with the sofa flipped. If you tried to do that on the other wall, the design impact of the art would be lost on the staircase.

What MIley Rey said - it looks like you might be able to frame in an entire entry way - and I see that there is an air intake duct on the floor but maybe you could have a large entry way into the rest of the house so that it includes that.

Denise is right, you definitely need to place your sectional on the larger side of the room and TV on the smaller side.
