Paint Home Decorating Design Dilemma

Teal/aqua paint color suggestions?

Trying to find the perfect teal/aqua paint color for my tween daughter's room...not too dark, not too light. She is hoping for something similar to "Tiffany blue". Her room is on the small size, but lots of natural light. She has a dormer so might need to paint ceiling same color.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If she's got a tiffany box or card, you can have a local big box store color match it. If not, a quick google can get you several colors very close to Tiffany blue. Here's a link to a Sherwin Williams formula for it. Another link to a Valspar look alike. You can find many more. Of course, try samples first. Good luck!

Turn off the computer and take her to the paint store. Simple. Done.

You cannot--cannot--judge paint colors on a computer monitor; no two are the same.

i like pittsburg paint 'blue blood' 809D - tho i don't know if you'd call it teal or not, i found that people have diff ideas what teal looks like... or BM (from aura affinity) 'blue echo' AF-505 or Aegean Teal 2136-40 from the color preview collection (i have the paint chips for both and can't tell the difference).

Teal & aqua are truly my least favorite colors, but that dresser I think would look sad with any color paint the way it is. Color aside, furniture painted that way makes me cringe. Interestingly enough, I don't mind, and even like, some pieces with stained tops and painted bottoms. I see a lot of older pieces done like that. Some pieces out there do look better with a (full) coat of paint, but the half and half looks like you never bothered to finish it. I imagine at some point stained wood furniture will be the rage again and everyone will be racing to strip off the layers and layers of paint.

This rug may be too traditional for you, but way back when I bought the rug pictured below. It turned out to be too light for our house so I had to return it. I bought it at Peykar Rugs in Garden City, NY, if that helps: In the photo it looks bluer than it is; it is actually more aqua with tones of brown and some gold. It is an 8x10 and was between $1400 and $1800--although the tag in the store said something closer to $3100.

You’re welcome, NewEnglandgal! I have a suggestion for a different dark blue color. Benjamin Moore Summer Nights (777) is a “warmer” dark blue that leans slightly green (but is definitely still blue and not teal) and your husband might like it better than Newburyport Blue, unless he just doesn’t like the look of dark walls. We haven’t had a dark wall color until recently, when I had the family room in our new home painted Summer Nights. My husband didn’t like the idea of dark blue walls at first, but he got used to it. (We haven’t moved yet and I don’t have a photo to show you.)

Sherwin Williams Oceanside is their 2018 Color of the Year. I've already designed a butler's pantry in it.

I tend to try and keep wall colors neutral in kids rooms since next year her favorite color could be lime greem. I like the color to come from the bedding and then a huge cork board where all knds of posters pics can be added and taken away at most I would paint one wall the flavor of the year.
