Keep it up, Scott. In my experience, the longer you have acupuncture done on you, the better it works and the frequency that you need it is greatly reduced.

Scott..I am so glad the acupuncture is helping for the neuropathy....I have a question for you...my husband has neuropathy also. He tried acupuncture but he didn't seem to get any relief from it. I'm wondering if he didn't give it a long enough time to get any benefit. How long have you been going? I know I have had good results and my daughter has as well. Thanks....Robin

I have had acupuncture for migraines. It did help.

They put the needles inbetween my toes. (sounds awful, but it wasn't, really.)

Robin, it is essential that the practitioner be very knowledgeable and experienced. Do some vetting before putting yourself in the hands of someone.

On the other hand, it can take a while for some individuals to feel relief; every person and every pain is different. Your husband's practitioner should have explained to him that instant relief is pretty unusual and a little bit more about what to expect.

My first experience with acupuncture was over twenty years ago. The patient was my dog! She woke up paralyzed with pain in her back on a Saturday morning when our vet's office was closed. The only clinic open was where I found this fabulous practitioner of animal acupuncture!

Georgia went from awful pain to being able to trot out to the car on her own. I was shocked and thrilled.

The acupuncture takes a while, and sometimes results with neuropathy are mixed, though my acupuncturist (who works full time at a hospital and does the acunpuncture on Sundays at a chiropractor office) claims that some peer review journals claim results for neuropathy are more consistent. I've noticed an overall improvement in my whole body. I think if one goes to acupuncture and doesn't also take the time to eat nutritious meals and exercise and take vitamins et al., the results will be mixed. One gets more results with muscular types of pain (I sprained my ankle in 2012 and acupuncture worked wonders on it) more quickly than nerve pain, but she was the one who pinpointed the issue in my case: scrambled nerves in specific areas. Thus some of the usual treatments for diabetic neuropathy (long-term numbness) don't work in my case.

Scott ..thanks so much for the info. Rhizo....Thank you too....hubby does take vitamins specific for the neuropathy....has for a couple of years....I think maybe he will try the Accupuncture again. His neuropathy unfortunately is from chemotherapy so it may be permanent. It's been 3 years, although the doctors says it could take at least this long! Thankfully there is just numbness... Not pain...I guess:)...Robin

janey, from what I've read, acupuncture can be a very good option for chemo induced neuropathy. Look into it and see what you think.
