Hi there noopd! You are very timely I must say. I am now at the stage where all this plumbing needs to be installed. Plans underway. Carpenter finished the walls and installed a small window into my windowless room. I enlarged the space to accommodate a 3x5' pan instead of the original plan for a 3x4' pan. I like this much better. I have all the plumping fixtures on site but not installed. Plan View: North Elevation, there will be cabinet changes from what is shown here: South Elevation, again, there are some changes compared to this drawing: 1) Raindance E 420 AIR 2-Jet Showerhead w/ Showerarm. 2) iBox rough-ins x2ea #01850181 (one for the Raindance E 240 & one for the diverter area) 3) Quattro 3-Way Diverter#15930181 to enable 2 shower functions at a time. (not the "Green" version which only serves one function at a time I believe, THANKS MONGOCT!) 4) Ecostat S/E Thermostatic Trim w/ Volume Control #04352000. 5) Ecostat S/E Trio/ Quattro Trim #04354000. 6) Axor Urquiola Face Cloth Hooks x2ea. 7) Grab bars horizontal bar on long side of shower, and a vertical one at entry to shower 8) Kohler cast iron 3x5' Salient shower pan with center drain in Ice Gray. other details in the rooom: 1) Axor Citterio M Single-Hole Sink Faucet, 8.25" tall with handle up/on. 2) Toto Maris floor mounted toilet. 3) Walnut cabinets, vanity and pocket doors. 4) 12x24 tile floor with floor warming system. 5) Stacked Miele W/D 6) Soapstone sink that I will make (I made another sink for my first BR remodel) Other things that are going in is a Fantech system - 2 vents w/lights and a remote 170cfm fan in the attic. One vent will be located in the shower and another near the W/D stack which is near the toilet. Tile that looks like marble 12x24" to the ceiling and wrapped around partial wall into W/D cabinet area. I will be doing the tile, I am nervous about this though. But I have done other tile jobs that are much more complex in layout. I am concerned about the size. I have a leveling system that I will use to help with keeping the tiles flat. It is called Tornado I think. Niche will be installed into the shower space. I am planning on putting it below the shower head and above the shower controls. This is the "cleanest" looking space in my opinion. But I can be convinced otherwise :) Plumber will have to plumb accordingly. Hi there, interesting that you should ask :) I just got my shower up and running. I have the Hansgrohe E 420, with the Quattro valve (not the Quattro Green) so that 1 or 2 of any of the shower head features can come on at the same time. Then I have a 3rd option, to have the water go to the Hansgrohe E150 hand shower. So any 2 of these 3 outlets can come on at the same time, or just 1 outlet. Where are you? I bought my stuff from Ferguson's in Des Moines Metro area. I had a friend who works there set this up for me after seeing it last year on GW on a thread linked below started by Raehelen. The poster with this shower set up is Noopd. His post is about 1/2 down the thread, you can't miss it : ) Anyway, my friend was at the plant in Atlanta last year, after I ordered my setup, and she returned very impressed. She told me I could take out the flow restictors too. So last month when we were installing the fixture we did that. I don't know if there is much difference compared with the setup before we removed the restricters. I have a hand shower Hansgrohe E150, with 3 jets. It will be wall mounted on a bar or stationary mount, haven't decided. My shower is 3x5 and I really like the Hansgrohe Raindance E420 head. The rain shower feature is wonderful, and I would describe it as "caressing". The waterfall feature is somewhat forceful, like a garden hose 3/4 on and without a head at the end. Enough to rinse my hair in short order. It kind of gives a gentle tender message to the shoulder area I've noticed. If you live in California the Quattro isn't available for you I don't believe. California has to go with the Quattro Green. I don't know if this system would be as nice with the California restrictions. With the Quattro Green only one valve is open at a time and can't combine valves like the regular Quattro does. When the regular Quattro is running 2 valves, I have noticed a slight pressure drop. I have an "on demand" water heater that is supposed to put out 9 gal/min. So with the Quattro, each valve puts out 2.5 gal/min I believe. So max, 5gal/min, with both valves open. The instructions say that "on demand" water heaters aren't recommended (saw that disclaimer WAY later in my remodel). So Mr. Plumber and I took a chance, with a back up plan to install a small water heater tank as a feeder to the shower from the "on demand" heater. Didn't need to go down that road, thank goodness. Speaking of plumbing. TALK TO TECH SUPPORT at Hansgrohe before installing, to be sure you've got the plumbing correct!!! the iBox instructions really don't layout a diagram for the E420 specifically. They illustrate just about everything else though, lol. The correct diagram is in the E420 instructions. I complained to Hansgrohe tech after our mistake. Mr. Plumber and I went with the wrong layout, and months later, when ready to install the shower head, it was WRONG. He footed the bill for the cabinet guy to pull my cabinet where I had planned access to the plumbing, fix, then cabinet guy to reinstall the cabinet. I was not real happy, but glad he paid, and that I had planned the access. He is a great person, but doesn't like to read, and these new systems are, well new, and one needs to read how to install them ;) The plumbing for the E420 comes into the iBox on the left side and the right side. The top of the ibox is capped and the bottom is capped. But don't take my word for it, LOL! Hansgrohe has so many shower heads with so many configurations that it's a little crazy. To expand on Mongo's reply, many of today's flow restrictors have a "pressure compensating o-ring" The purpose of this o-ring is to expand and contract to always permit the precise maximum flow allowed (usually 2.5 gpm) regardless of the water pressure to the shower. The plastic part is often color coded so that manufacturers that sell in multiple countries (or 2.0 gpm for California) can easy identity. The code requires that the flow restrictor be difficult to remove. Often, the only way to remove it is to ultimately destroy the device. However, if you can succeed in removing just the o-ring, you should experience greater, though not maximum, flow. Often, it is enough extra flow to create a satisfying shower experience while still saving a little water. The only downside is that your flow may vary if you have pressure fluctuations in your shower system. Hope this info is helpful. Errant Those are posted pics from my computer, I caved in :( I so wanted to post from my photobucket account. Numbers, The advised I got from the friend, who got advice from someone else was to take the flow restricters out of the unit. I can't remember where the restricters were in the valve. There actually may be several. I am not sure if I got all of mine out, but I know I got at least one layer out. It did improve the waterfall flow. It is not as laminar for as long a stream, as the one that my friend observed in Atlanta. She told me to get it more like what the pictures show you need to get the restricters out. Another point I can't make loud enough is to be sure you know the plumbing connections to the iBox. I have a post that showed my problem. Each of the special rainshowers seem to have a different valve and a different way to plumb the ibox. I was visiting my friend at the Ferguson's yesterday, to ask for her take on the 180 you were looking at, (see above post) and she pulled out a new catalog on installation for the varying valves and heads. Full of beautiful pictures. The one for my 420E 2 jet was illustrated incorrectly !!! I pointed this out and she will share with the rep next time she sees him. There was another catalog that showed it correctly, but it was last years. There is, I suppose, a slight chance that the head and valve have been re-designed to accommodate a new install, but I don't know. Call tech support before you install or have the plumber be very clear on install. Have access to valve and plumbing from the back side of the wall, I am glad I did. I didn't get the shower valve itself tested until after I tiled. That's when the mistake was discovered. It is a very simple system when you get the water hooked up to the the right connection on the iBox :) I would put another one up, if I had another shower :)
