The stain is on alder wood and I'll have to find out what it is. They blended it to match my heart pine floors;) I have the 'DWF' files (blueprint cads) but no photo....will work on that. Our inspiration home was the 'Golf Digest for Women Signature Showhouse' that we saw in Reynolds Plantation, Ga. last summer. My wife and I traveled from Nashville to Atlanta and then to Reynolds Plantation to the see the Southern Living Showhouse. We were disappointed with that, but stumbled upon the other one (and a price of 5 million) and were thrilled. Wife LOVED that kitchen. I have pics that I can post later. We found out who the KD was and called her. She was in Atlanta. We met her the next day, set an appt, and let her do our design. (We move fast) Our other inspiration home was this one...http://markcasserly.com/.... look under the 'concept home photos' We have scoured the magazines and she really wanted a 'cottage look'. So, we bucked the formal lr and formal dr trend and went with what we want. Hope this helps some. Rick...See MoreQuestion about rugs & an open floor plan?
Comments (5)OMG, thank you guys so much for taking the time to post pictures. It helps me SOOO SOO much. I want things to flow, but not be too matchy and it's hard! I LOVE both of your homes. You have done such a good job of pulling everything together. I have found quite a few nice Shaw rugs in the colors of my downstairs, so I think I will go that. Thanks again and I will be sure to post pics when it's all done!!...See MoreMixing Wood Floors in Open Floor plan

Comments (12)I think it looks great as it is. I have a similar color scheme in my open floor plan--golds and reds-. However, I too am tired of it and we are replacing windows, hardwoods, paint, and furniture. I have decided to go a little more modern with browns and burnt orange. Maybe if you just want to change things up a bit, change out the rug to something a bit more contemporary. It looks like your furniture can go either way. You could also change out your curtains if you went with a different color scheme in the rug. For behind the couch, you could get some long art work that comes in 4 canvas panels. With a different rug, curtains and artwork, you will have a nice change. However, if you are tired of the red in the couch, you could always go with a leather sectional--I am partial to leather, which is why I suggest that. but, the couch looks good and can work with many different style. Good luck! I find that I am at a standstill until I see some inspiration pics....See MoreCathleen H
