Need advice--can't find same width hardwood floor to match
Comments (1)I have wood that is wide planked in the livingroom and then regular width in halls and bedroom. It is original. I think 1/4 of an inch is not going to be that noriceable but if you are worried then deliberately go wider so it looks deliberate. Will the new floor run parallel to the existing hardwood or will the ends meet? If the ends meet then it may be noticeable and in that case I would think about doing a border with the wood and then running the rest inside of it....See Moreneed paint color advice for 2 story foyer ceiling
Comments (6)Funcolors thank you for your reply. After reading many of your posts here I'm happy to get your knowledgeable advice. :) I've tried out 9 different paint samples and looked at probably 100 tan/beiges before finding Sierra Hills so glad to hear my choice is a good one. :) Seirra Hills looks close to SW Nomadic Desert to me on paint chip which is one up from Latte. I've thought about getting sample of it. What would you say would be different in these two colors? We are painting the upstairs hallway the same color. What should we do about the hallway ceiling? I don't want it to be too dark going down the long hallway. Should I leave it the off white or paint it a shade or two lighter then the foyer. We had changed the original house plans to add a office downstairs and bedroom upstairs so this is how the foyer struture ended up. There is a wide ledge/shelf under window then the front door below. The walls have needed painting for a long time so I'm excited to get it done soon. Nancy...See MoreHouse is 2 shades of GREEN - Exterior Color Advice Needed
Comments (24)Groveraxle, thank you so much for making those different color combinations. Your work made me realize I don't like the initial color scheme I had in mind (navy and cedar and white). The funny thing is that the combo you made with green on top looks almost exactly like my house's neighborhood twin (it is located a mile or so from my house). I really like the gray combination you made. Thanks to other people's suggestions, I am starting to warm up to the idea of one color for the body of the house :) If anyone is interested, here are the house twins: My house is the one on the left....See MoreAdvice Please! Color Matching Laminate Flooring (Transitions)
Comments (2)Find unfinished hardwood and have it stained to match. Should come in around $18/linear foot = all said and done. That's if you go to a door and moulding shop with a sample of your floor and they CUSTOM match the colour for you. Give them two weeks, pay them and then take home your item. A flooring professional can source this for you (same as above) or you can find a stain that is "close enough" and do it yourself with HD prefab mouldings/trim, etc. The installation instructions clearly indicate: T-mouldings required through all doorways. "In field" expansion gaps are required for: Runs greater than 12m (36ft) across the LONG edge of the plank Runs greater than 8m (24ft) across the SHORT edge of the plank https://d18178273alp6b.cloudfront.net/production/bdsellerassets/laminate-flooring/toklo-by-swiss-krono/pdf/toklo-swiss-krono-installation-instructions.pdf With a purchase of 1000sf, I'm going to guess you will need T-mouldings and some quarter round for the fireplace. For stains: try looking at Ebony, Jacobean or dark walnut. If in doubt, go a snick darker...which is why the Ebony appeals to me. Use white oak to get the cleanest stain and a clear coat so that you do NOT add orange to the colour. Good luck. Count up your doorways (3ft each) and see how much quarter round you have. You can DIY this pretty easy for just a little bit more money. This happens all the time...that's why Home Depot has an entire back wall filled with moulding - unfinished and waiting for stain....See MoreRelated Professionals
