How do you know if it’s Spider Mites or just Spiders?

Nearly everyday, at least one of my trees (and house plants) has webs on it. Both when they’re outside and inside and in summer and winter. But at least twice a week, I find a spider on a tree. They like to spin a sack on the fresh leaves and roll it up into a little cocoon. I’m always scraping spiders and their sacks off my leaves. Three in the last four days. I live in a house with lots of spiders (lucky me). So how do I know if it’s a spider or spider mites?

All of my plants are healthy, except for a few that always struggle (I’m looking at you Croton). There is one old cactus at my dad’s house that has me worried. Lots of webbing around the planter and it’s unhealthy, but it’s not living with my plants yet. We’re moving in together soon.

I never used to worry about spider mites, but this forum has made me paranoid. I have many plants in such a tight space this year.
