Color scheme help, replace red roof with black roof? Paint red brick
Comments (2)The first thing I would do is lose the shutters on the windows to the far right and far left. They are much too small. Second thing would be to get rid of the orange/salmon color around the windows. You already stated that you don't like the roof and that color around the windows is just drawing the eye to it. Are you planning to replace the roof? If so, a weathered gray/tan color would look a lot better. Can't tell if the brick has been painted or not. I'm not a fan of painting brick so if it hasn't been painted I would look for a color to paint the siding that "tones down" the brick color. A medium taupe would look good. Comments (6)I think white windows look best on your house, and I wouldn't want mismatched colors so if some of the white is staying, I would definitely keep the windows white. If it were me, I would go with a more simple grid design. I don't understand what you propose to do with the front of your house. Can you post a mockup? I honestly think your house is fairly cute as is....See MoreReplacement window advice - black windows?
Comments (8)Ok, I think we can probably be swayed on keeping the cedar by painting the trim and siding, :), but the windows really need to be replaced. Many frames are rotting and are extremely drafty and difficulty to clean since the grills are on the outside of the glass both on the interior and exterior. I agree the black windows may not stand out much looking at the house now, but hoping with painted white trim and a medium gray on the siding they’ll stand out a bit more....See MoreAdvice on Roof Shingles / Metal Roof Accent Color
Comments (6)@Jon Alan - this is a custom house that we are about to pour the foundation for so the structure is pretty much set at this point. (Thanks for checking first - LOL!) To clarify, the inspiration house was inspiration for colors more than shape/structure. (The inspiration house is in an area prone to flooding which ours is not and we wanted to keep it lower.) As far as a black/gray brick, we really like the warmth of the redder tones and haven't cared for other homes we've seen with black/gray brick so I don't see us going that route....See Morehouses14
