Advice on Roof Shingles / Metal Roof Accent Color

Would love to get some input on roof shingle and metal roof colors. Here is a rendering we’ve been playing with but are having trouble getting a good sense of which way to go on the roof from this. (Front door and garage door colors are also still under debate, but don't have to decide on those just yet!)

We are most likely using Old Texas Brick’s Old St. Louis no orange custom brick with white siding and our windows are Sierra Pacific Battleship Gray. We may do some light mortar/whitewash over the brick to lighten it a bit, but won’t go all the way to white.

This house was inspiration for us, but since we’re using gray windows rather than black, we aren’t sure where to go with the roof on ours.

Shingle Options are all from Certainteed Landmark:

  • Moire Black
  • Georgetown Gray
  • Colonial Slate

We think Cobblestone Gray and Silver Birch are too light, but open to being corrected there! Want to stay away from anything brown.

For the metal roof over the porch, options are the Durapon colors from Quality Metals. From the samples, Charcoal Gray is the darkest we can get without going all the way to matte black and is the closest match to the windows. (We only have the Moire Black shingle sample so far - still waiting on others.)

We think (?) Moire Black is too dark for us and not sure we want the roof to be significantly darker than the windows and metal roof, but wonder if a gray roof won't give enough contrast overall? Is there a general rule of thumb for how much lighter/darker to make shingles compared to windows and/or metal? We’re trying to figure out the right balance and would love recommendations!
