@brinnie, Refer to this book, Get Your House Right, to research details that will work for your porch. Stay with anything colonial revival because that is what a Dutch gambrel fits within. Thank you so much for your response and those referrals. I don't expect to find anything that replicates our home, but i will settle for getting one style almost right instead of the two styles that are presently at odds.

I would like to make have a nicer portico for our small Dutch Colonial. We are re-siding it grey with white trim (removing shutters) We have a staircase at the right so we can only add one more window on the 2nd floor. Thanks for your time! Any suggestions?
