Comments (4)Thank you all for these helpful suggestions, @hallettco, @Patricia Colwell and @Moore4. Points noted about light temperature, cri and strobing effect. Re: my questions regarding positioning of the tracks, please see photos below. My contractor is suggesting a rectangular track, installed at 9' off the floor. He proposes attaching a track to the sloped ceiling above the skylights on one wall, and above the 2 windows shown, on the opposing wall, and suspending two more tracks between them to create a rectangle, all at 9' off the floor. At this height, the tracks will be 2'4" in from the top of the skylights on that wall, and 2'4" in from the opposite window wall, and 4' in from the perpendicular (unsloped) walls. Is 9' a good height? is 2'4" too close to the walls? Will this positioning allow enough light for the center of the room? Thanks again for any advice....See MorePlease recommend paint color for art studio
Comments (23)I would keep it off white so the light reflecting off of the walls does not impact how you see your canvasses and paints. Here's some good info: "There are different ways the color of your studio might affect your painting. First, the color will influence how well you can see what you’re working on. If you’re looking for maximum illumination, consider painting the walls and ceiling a light value, such as off-white. Light (from the window and electrical fixtures) will bounce off surrounding surfaces and create ambient, reflected illumination. The result is a well-lit and cheery workspace. You should also consider your subject matter. Ambient illumination isn’t a problem if you work from photos or imagination; however, if you work from life, a room full of reflected light makes creating convincing light and shadow effects on a model or a still life setup difficult. For this reason, traditional painters generally paint their studio walls a middle value (with an off-white ceiling). Also, the color shouldn’t be too strong because intense chroma can throw unexpected color onto your subject and influence how well you see your work. A midvalue gray or dull green are popular choices."...See Morestarcitylady72
