Costco Cabinets?
Comments (3)As a long-time kitchen designer I believe the All Wood Cabinets are made in China. Sometimes they come CKD--or complete knock down which means your installer has to assemble them. There are many finish issues. I am Kitchen Design Editor for How We Live magazine and Google! I am more than happy to answer direct questions about quality and price. Please go to my site and on the contact page you can 'Ask the expert'. Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.designsbymichael.net...See MoreAll-Wood cabinets from Costco - anyone?
Comments (3)Hi Jen, I would definitely check into where they originate from. A lot of companies are saying their products are made in America. In fact, they come from China full of formaldehyde and they fall apart in a couple of years. Just beware. Comments (15)the costco cabinets are made in china and warehoused in florida. The prices are pretty good. I can normally beat the price with my import products any day of the week. If you are going to buy Chinese from Costco be aware there are american made brands that will actually be less if you know which brand to get and who sells them. Chinese products get a bad wrap for the most part. Why is a Ikea cabinet praised on this board over and over and the Chinese cabinet is slammed over and over? I have 150 different cabinets from China and the Us I offer to my customers when the budget for the entire kitchen remodel is under 10k for all products appliances countertops and installation. Generally the Chinese will give you painted finishes with glazes and solid wood dove tail drawers and soft close full extension undermount rails in full overlay door styles for the cost of builder grade oak in American brands. Is there that much of a difference if a chinese man operates a huge steel machine to shape the wood or if a american man or woman operates an older version of that machine in the US? Many of the Chinese factories are more advanced with newer equipment than the US factories. I have many US cabinet makers that are just now becoming "CARB" compliant a California Air Resources Board standard. The chinese met the standard much faster then the US did many times. I am not stuck on either US or Chinese and realize that we as consumers need choices to match our own situations. More choices means lower prices for all the opposite of monopoly. That being said Costco is high end on the cost of chinese cabinets. Sunco and 6 Square both have the same business model if you want to compare prices after finding local dealers to your area. The doors and drawers are finished in China the rest is cut and assembled in the US facitlity for all 3 brands....See MoreTo Costco, or not to Costco?
Comments (66)We don't have BJs around here, just Sam's for a long time and Costco arrived a few years ago. Is BJs virtually the same in price, products, and policies? I never joined the Sam's because is was not convenient, and just not nice inside, kind of gloomy! The Costco is a nice experience to get to and shop in. Leaving is a pain with their checking your receipt, card, and cart, ugh. Just let me go! Re: the Sam's Club, why does the notice on the door say they will reopen the next day? Weird....See Moreskmom
