Your suggestions for mixing metals in kitchen?

I'm planning on using oil rubbed bronze pulls and knobs, since I think the ORB looks very good with the wood tone of my cabinets. (Cabinets have red in it, and chrome looks horrible, and I don't want gold.)

Anyway, I'd really like to mix some metals in my kitchen, but am confused as to how to do it.

Knobs and pulls - ORB

Faucet - ORB or polished nickel or brass?

Lights - polished nickel or brass?

Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

My kitchen is definitely traditional in style.

There really are no rules ... although I did read one about repeating the same metal color on at least 2 different items in the kitchen to relate them to another element in the space. I realized I was doing this subconsciously, so there might be something to that rule!

I've spent a lot of time looking at kitchen photos on Houzz and really there are no rules. People mix what is pleasing to them. Some I look at and like, but others I wonder what they were drinking while picking kitchen finishes! So it really is very individual and subjective.

Ten bucks no one would notice it but you. When I see a lamp, unless it's a pair on each end of a sofa, I see them as they are. I never notice if the other lights match or not. If you like it, get it. I think a mixture would be great!

I have stainless steel appliances and ORB hardware and pendant lighting and I think it looks good! I dont have a SS sink or faucet-my sink is white cast iron and faucet is ORB...but just have the SS appliances brings in the two metals.

I really like number 5, the white and gold one, but it's not right for the setting. Number 4 is very striking and would probably work. Number 3 is too mid/mod. For me, it's in the same category as 5 - cool but not right. Number 2 will be safe (three across). I don't like 1 or 6 at all. HTH

Thanks! What do you think of ORB hardware on all cabinets, with polished nickel on light fixtures and sink faucet? Or should the faucet be ORB, as well? I did read something about keeping all metals on the same "plane" the same when in doubt, so I'm assuming that would include an ORB faucet.

Appreciate any opinions!

I have ORB cabinet hardware and overhead lighting, antique copper sconces and pendants, and chrome faucet. Agree with others above that there are no rules, and lots of different mixing options can look good.

My personal opinion is that chrome/nickel faucet doesn't "count" as mixing metals, kind of like the stainless appliances. I think ORB faucet is fine if you like the look, but I don't think it will mismatch at all to have a nickel faucet, especially if you repeat the nickel in the light fixtures. The ORB faucet seems like more of a statement.

I have seen very few ORB or dark finish faucets that I thought looked good. Most look like they were chosen because they were supposed to match and wind up looking out of place. Don't get one because you think you should.

I think the antique brass would look great with darker cabinet hardware, but not all ORB is the same. Look at them together. If they don't compliment each other, try a black or iron look for the cabinets. And the plumbing fixtures can still be chrome or brushed chrome or nickel. The nickel might be good because of the warmer tone and softer finish, but the cabinet finish, counter nad sink can all make a difference.

We have ORB cabinet pulls/knobs, antiqued brass island pendants, and brushed nickel faucet and stainless appliances. I think it flows together nicely, but I may be partial, ha!
