Help needed ASAP w/ Bathroom decision re: drastic metal mix
Comments (19)I think consistency is important, especially in a small space. If most of the finishes are chrome (what's your hardware on the vanity, by the way?), by installing a light or lights that are ORB, you are drawing attention to them and you might want to think about that. Seems like from what I've seen on the shows where people are fixing up to sell, keeping things neutral is a good way to go. And just because you can see the two lights from the LR, doesn't mean they should match; the lav and the LR are very distinct spaces, after all. If you feel its too cold in there with all chrome, perhaps warm up the space with a nice pop of color in your hand towel, mat on the floor if you are so inclined, or other small accessory. Good luck!...See MoreNeed Advice on Mixing Metals in the Kitchen
Comments (9)Well. if you follow trends, then only mix metal finishes that are easy to change later. And aren't expensive to change. Like knock off lighting. Faucets and pulls are more long lived. But, scale back the scale from the giant oversized lights that have seemed to dominate people's Pins for the last 7-8 years. Scale can only be ignored as a room element for a while, but it always comes back to bite you. Giant brass everything is only popular now because of the very cold white and gray look that people feel is lacking in warmth. Because it is. That gray/white trend is changing too. Warm woods are making a great deal of headway in the style setting locations. And modern, not transitional, designs. Warm wood slab cabinets are the next hot thing. Like a mix of 60's -80's, but with less pop art influence. More Zen Modern. If you are interested in trends and want to get ahead of them....See MoreNeed help choosing a faucet in a mixed-metal kitchen
Comments (19)Here's out it turned out. I ordered in several, stuck them up near the sink and new countertops, decided on the matte black with brass accents. Then my husband came home and when I showed him the faucet I picked out, he had a man meltdown over the stainless steel sink and "weird faucet". (He's so 2003) . Sidebar on sinks: I went on Zillow and pulled up houses that are listed for over a million dollars in our city to prove that 8 out of 10 had basically the same stainless steel type sink and it's not "cheap" looking. I'm the plumber showed up today so I had very little time to choose - texted him photos of the 3 faucets, gonna assume he asked around his work peeps for opinions. I texted it to 2 friends that have excellent taste and beautiful houses - they both picked the black and gold without knowing it was my choice . A little while later, he called and said he "guessed the black one would be okay" (code for his work peeps liked the black one too) Here it is , it will look better when I get the pendants installed over island...See MoreKitchen hardware and lighting choices - help! Comments (7)I’m not usually a fan of brass, but I think yours looks great. I don’t think you need to change the dining room fixture, it is far enough way and it coordinates with the polished nickel on the backs of your chairs....See Moremjammjam
