Comments (21)I presume you mean floridagardenER.com Calling a place "north" or "south" doesn't really tell me anything about what will grow there or the climate. Sorry. Especially when I have to reference a website that explains it. I lived in florida for a very long time and never understood it when I lived there either. If you want to know more specifically about the areas I lived in, does this tell you? South Florida Space Coast Treasure Coast First Coast Nature Coast Gold Coast Central Florida Bay Area Southwest Florida all names created by the media. Can you figure out where I was or what I was growing??!! I think the reason this all pisses me off so much is because when I was living in "the treasure coast" and two hurricanes hit 2 weeks apart, the territory was claimed by both the south florida stations and the central florida stations. It was just to the south of Vero Beach (see how that example all comes into the picture now!?) and after the storm there was little mention of the aftermath in my area on the south florida stations nor was there on the central florida stations. It was ground zero for both hurricanes, most local piss ant radio stations were off the air so anyone in the community was basically alone in the dark with no information. So it makes me mad when the media creates bogus community names to make viewers feel like they are all apart of it and to keep potential new stations from getting licensed when in fact they are only servicing a rather small geographic area that cannot be described by ambiguous terms like north/central/south/east/west. Central Florida = Orlando. PERIOD. Tampa Bay = Hillsborough and Pinellas. ONLY. South florida = Miami, Fort Lauderdale and under certain circumstances, palm beach county. North Florida = Jacksonville. THAT's IT. Southwest Florida = Fort Myers. AND ONLY Fort Myers. West Florida = Pensacola. This is really what the media means when they say they "have ___insert bogus market name here___ covered". The people of florida have been brainwashed into used these bogus community names in their business names and other parts of everyday life. People on internet chats and forums use it because it's anonymous. No need to be anonymous here guys....See Morereturn and supply air temp at or under 10 degrees
Comments (12)your best bet in this situation is to hire someone yourself to check out the system and give you an honest answer. If you check craigslist, you'll find guys offering to do "check ups" for $50-100 - just make it clear that you want a full inspection with line pressures, subcool/superheat delta-T and static pressure readings documented in writing on the repair order. Tell them before they come out that you aren't interested in a new system, just in getting the unit back to factory specs. Something is definitely wrong, and it's likely an inexpensive fix if you can get someone to actually break out their tools and check the system properly. Don't let them talk you into a new system, and don't believe the warranty company's lapdog. Google the warranty company's name to see what you're dealing with, most have terrible reviews....See MoreHow LOW temp does you oven go
Comments (20)Very happy with my Miele CSO. I think it goes from 85°F to 435°F, and I can control temperatures in 1°F steps, if I type them into the on-screen keypad instead of using the on-screen scroll wheel. This means, my CSO makes for a really convenient sous vide cooker. It does have a couple of quirks, though. The entire temperature range isn't available in all modes. But there usually is another mode that will allow access to the rest of the temperature range. In practice, this doesn't matter often. But on some occasions it makes for an awkward user interface. It also means that some settings can be chained into a temperature programs, while others can't. And for whatever reason, sous-vide cooking is artificially restricted to no more than 10 hours. None of the above are really a big deal. But they do make the UI more confusing than it should be necessary. Sounds as if other brands have similar arbitrary restrictions, too. I noticed that for the really low-temperature proofing modes, my CSO turns off the oven lights. I guess the minimal amount of heat from those lights is already too much to hold those low temperatures. I regularly use it to proof dough and I am quite pleased with the results....See MoreDoes temp need to drop from 90's to get vegetables setting again?
Comments (24)Garland, Texas here, a suburb of Dallas. Been really hot and dry the past few weeks, and the past few days have been the hottest! Past two days around 104-105, and nights around 80 degrees. Definitely survival mode around here, and I water my garden every other day. Amazingly my cucumber are still producing! I keep picking a basketfull every few days and have given lots away. I am getting a few runts, but have had some nice sized ones too despite the heat. Yellow crookneck squash was producing good when it was between 98-100 for highs, but the past few days above 100 has pretty much shut them down. Okra loves the heat. 104 and they are happily producing. Have started given some away... Peppers are producing, but mostly they are ripening, since I think most of them set when the temps were in the upper 90s. I pulled up all my bush beans. The plants were surviving, but no beans anymore, except and occasional tiny runt bean. As Dan said, tomorrow we get a cold front, and temps are supposed to go back to normal, which is mid to upper 90s! Yeah big hats, shorts, lots of water! People pay money to go into a sauna and sweat buckets. I do it in my garden for free!...See Moreb h
