Leak in faucet hose: replace hose or faucet?

We redid our kitchen 3yrs ago and have a Kohler Simplice faucet. I was overwhelmed by choices and budget and it seemed like a practical choice. Now the hose has sprouted a leak and needs a fix ASAP. Based on Linelle's post it looks like this is a straightforward fix, but I know my limitations and would need to get a plumber.

I'm wondering if this is an inevitable problem every couple of years, and whether I should just replace the faucet now, when I have a plumber, with one that has a metal hose? The Simplice was functional but not particularly beautiful, so I'd be tempted to try to find something snazzier if I were to replace the faucet entirely.

Also - any tips on a great faucet that has a metal hose?! I'm having trouble finding a site that lets me search that way. Thanks!
