Call a plumbing supply store (I tried searching online too)and maybe they can steer you to the right brands. I have noticed all the very high end brands (Dornbracht, Perrin & Rowe, KWC,) have metal hoses- but they are significantly more expensive.

In the more reasonable range, my understandings that Delta's faucets are consistently well thought of (though no one dislikes Kohler- just seems like more love toward Delta.)

Wow, smalloldhouse! When I read your opening sentence, I thought, "Did I post this and just forgot about it?!" We installed our Simplice ~ two years ago, and last month noticed a bit of water puddling at the bottom of our sink cabinet. :/

The pullout spray hose had indeed developed a slow leak. Even though the faucet was out of warranty, DH contacted Kohler customer service by phone, and they sent out a replacement hose @ no charge. I guess this is something we'll need to keep an eye on, but Kohler was very good about handling this for us. Good luck.

If you need an excuse to replace the faucet, now's the time. Go for it!

I have no experience with pull down spouts/sprays, metal spray hoses or how long they last. I've always had a separate spray with a plastic hose and they last perhaps 6 to 9 years with my use. They are not that hard to replace and can be found in any hardware store.

I'd think that any hose, plastic or metal that is pulled and moved and rubbed by the guide/opening will eventually leak. The flexible hoses under the sink that connect the faucet to the supply last much longer because there is no movement or abrasion. These, of course, should always be metal, since the plastic ones can burst unexpectedly when they are under constant pressure. For the faucet spray, the hose is only under pressure when the faucet is on.
