Washer Hose dripping
Comments (4)Here's a pic of it: I've about determined that the thing between the hose and the rest of the faucet might be a backflow preventer, and it's probably what's leaking. The water does seem to drip all along the bottom of that thing. Is it something I can just tighten with a wrench? (It wouldn't be soldered on, would it? I can't see behind the pipe to tell.) Do those need replacing every so often? Thanks,...See MoreCan't remove faucet handle
Comments (3)May depend on the brand, but you should be able to find replacement parts. As for getting things apart, are you sure this is a Phillips head and not a hexhead or starhead? If it is a Phillips head you have two options: 1) put a couple of applications of Liquid Wrench on it and see if that frees it up from the corrosion; 2) buy a small bit called a screw extractor (you drill a small hole in the center of the obstinate screw, and then you use the screw extractor to grip the inside of the hole and to turn it out). If you're not real handy, though, you may not be successful with the screw extractor. If you're unable to resolve the problem in this manner, it's time for you to install a new faucet, which will probably be a lot cheaper than calling a plumber to fix the old one......See Morehelp ! can't remove hoses from washer faucet
Comments (21)Thanks for coming back. Sorry for your troubles. Always advise cheap/easy attempt first. Sorry didn't work. Your plumber has handled this countless times before. Quick/easy for him plus a little more expense for you. When he's done, suggest floodcheck hoses for your connection. Link below. Get the gooseneck connectors, too. Comments (11)If the temperature is below freezing, you'll need to thaw the connection and faucet. If freezing is not your problem, then many of the comments above apply. I will add a few more: if you are going to apply a lot of torque, do supply a counter-torque to protect the piping in the house. Most hose bibs (faucets) have a hex collar where you can apply a wrench to counteract the loosening tronque. Copper piping is easily damaged with too much torque. Iron pipe can be loosened. Hot water may help. Get all your tools in place and then make a tea kettle or two of hot water. When the kettle of water is hot, take it outside and dribble the hot water over the metal hose coupling. Quickly, before the coupling can cool, try to loosen it ( with tools, not your bare hands). If the temperature is freezing, pour hot water over the hose coupling and the end of the faucet. 3. Make sure you know which direction to turn for un-tightening....See Morehendricus
