Help me with Sofas(Leather vs Fabric??)
Comments (21)I have always had fabric sofas then about 6 years ago I bought a slipcovered sofa from Arhaus. I thought it was a good investment because I could have new covers made and when we decided to have kids I figured I could wash the covers. Well.....a few years later we had twins, then had our third before the twins turned 2 and by that time I was fed up with the maintenance of the fabric. So, one day I was so frustrated at the constant cleaning, I went to the furniture store and bought a leather sofa and loveseat. They look fabulous and for the first year I loved how easy it was to clean them and the worry free attitude I could have with 3 toddlers. Now I have had them for about 2.5 years and I am counting the days until I can have a cozy, fabric sofa again. I still have the Arhaus sofa, but it is too large to move into our current space, so it sits in the kids playroom in the basement (figures, right?). My husband has relented that I could buy a new fabric sofa, but everytime I look at them, all I can think about is the spilled milk, dropped food that got snuck into the family room, runny noses that got wiped on the seat cushions.....so, I leave the store longing for a fabric sofa but appreciating the leather and the fact it always looks good, no matter what. As a matter of fact, my SIL thought the leather was such a good idea after seeing mine and also having 3 small children, she bought the exact same set. We feel the same way about leather and fabric. Function won out over personal preference. BTW, I have leather on carpet and plan to add a nice area rug to help add some color the room....See Morechoosing textures & patterns
Comments (8)Sorry Parma--I guess I had Ingrid in my brain from looking at other posts. I am buying this sofa in a leather that is very close to the color in the picture--the color I am getting is 9474-85.I flipped between this brown & the darker browns. I need chairs, pillows, tables & new paint. My plan is to wait on paint until I get the sofa & chairs. I have been choosing the sofa for about 3 months now--I am very indecisive perrson by nature. I am having fun with it but ready to nail the sofa decision down & move on....See MoreStruggling! furniture placement, leather sofa, corner fireplace
Comments (26)I have a corner fireplace, and the key to successful furniture placement turned out to be turning the sofa on the diagonal, facing directly toward the fireplace, and placing two chairs against the wall to either side of the fireplace. An area rug turned diagonally to the room (parallel to sofa and hearth) pulls it all together. This might work for you. It can be arranged and rearranged in ten minutes. I recommend trying it for a week or two before deciding whether or not it works for your household. A slight variation is to turn the side chairs so their backs are not against the wall behind them, and face directly toward one another, yes with the chair corner to the wall. Of my two chairs, I have one placed each way, and no one seems to notice. If one of the easy chairs is placed diagonally to its wall, it is possible to tuck the television table behind it. The downside of this arrangement: for tv watching, one of you gets the other easy chair, and one of you gets to stretch out on the sofa at full length. (It goes without saying that the kids get the floor). Pattern-with-pattern comes in and out of fashion; one moment it is declared the Next New Thing, and another moment declared an egregious crime. I'd say go with your heart. You want to smile when you come into the room. Congratulations on your new house!...See Moreleather sofa/sectional vs fabric
Comments (32)Is there a blue throw there? can work -- maybe this type? to me you could buy leather sofa, or not. Would seem more interesting maybe, not leather. This has casual vibe, neutral nice on 'sofa wall'? https://www.houzz.com/products/calm-beauty-canvas-wall-art-30x40-prvw-vr~75578583 https://www.houzz.com/products/cowhide-pillow-12x20-navy-prvw-vr~133951228...See MoreWellington's Fine Leather Furniture
