I promised myself I would never ever own a cat again since our last cat died 2 years ago. But my son found a kitten wandering around in his yard and said it was his sons "favourite" so we took him in. It wasn't for about 4 days later when a neighbour of his asked if he saw their cat. Well, if it took you that long to look for your kitten, you don't deserve that kitten. ;) It was the second time they lost him and they only had him a week! So, about six weeks later, neutered (two weeks ago) and comfy in his new home this is Frank:

6 years ago"Blue" is a Siamese/Himalayan boy named for his ice blue eyes.He is now going on 3 years of age....he comes to a whistle...he thinks he is a dog.
And yes,that is a harness on him....he wore it from when we got him as we lived on a highway.Now,he roams pretty much freely amongst a neighbour or 2 close by.,is always in by 930-10 at night.

6 years agolast modified: 6 years agoThis is Darla, my neighbors 9yo outdoor cat. She's lost weight since I took this photo, I think she's too skinny now...so we feed her. She also seems lonely, comes running when she sees DH & I. She's evaded coyotes, Mtn. Lion , Fox, Bear, Golden Eagles AND Cars. She's NOT my cat. The same neighbor has a tuxedo outdoor cat. This one belongs to HIS children. I don't think the kids dad, Paul, cares if she lives or dies....but the grown kids love her, when they're home.

Comments (13)Alameda, Chris could easily be a climber here (and what a wonderful one he'd be), and I just know my trellis isn't big enough. I haven't had the heart to hit up DH again to do a bigger support. The bamboo was difficult for him to deal with. It will take some sweet talking, I am sure. Weeds? It looks good now but I have tons of warm-weather weeds. That awful onion stuff that has underground runners. I use a weeder tool on them in early spring and summer. Once the roses and daylilies grow up big, I can barely fit in there to weed and they start winning out. I am not compulsive enough to do it every day. I need to. We have 1985 era oak cabs in our kitchen and while they aren't my favorite style, they are in really good condition and replacing them is not in the budget. I started out painting the kitchen Valspar Filoli Honey (which is close to RH Butter), but I really just don't love yellow in this room. It's a nice buttery yellow, but it just doesn't seem to work in this room, which doesn't get a ton of natural light because of the patio cover on the back of the house. Comments (6)When they drilled the holes for our faucet/soap dispenser/air switch, we didn't seem to have a problem. However, when they ground down part of the back of the granite to reduce the gap b/w the counter and wall, they got granite dust in all the drawer glides of the cabinet they were grinding "over". The dust doesn't appear to have "traveled" up. We just found out that contrary to what we were told, they will be doing the cooktop cutout inside our house...so I'm in the same boat as you. My DH, after our bad experience w/the first installation, has already requested that they remove ALL drawer glides of the cabinets they're working over. Comments (22)Funny, what I made tonight was essentially that spinach kugel, only in parts. I made a "poor man's spinach souffle", as we call it, with chopped greens and spinach and a couple eggs and ricotta, s/p & nutmeg mashed together and baked. no butter ;) And then I boiled some potatoes so it occurred to me, mixing them together on my plate, that this is essentially the same thing. Minus the cuisinart. It wasn't the wording I was poking fun of but, um -- I'm not an English major, something about the agreement or modifiers in the sentence -- anyway, it reads as if the cuisinart falls apart! Here: I put the cheese in the Cuisinart with the steel blade and and pulse till it falls apart, add the eggs and pulse, then the potatoes. I keep it coarse, not totally smooth. -- the sentence just sounded as if you tossed that stuff in the cuisinart and then the cuisinart fell apart! I knew what you meant of course, just did a literary double-take. Does it drive you crazy cleaning a cuisinart? Or do you get used to it? Until this kitchen, I've never had space to de-box my cuisinart (which was given to me in 1979!), so use it very rarely indeed. I could, I suppose, leave it set up now but ... never having used it regularly I don't feel the urgency. 6 years agoBeautiful cats and stories. We too, have a kitten that ran into our house and we just let her stay. our street is too busy for outside cats, but we do have several of them because at the time they were born the animal "shelter" here was nothing but a cruel killing warehouse. All of our purr babies are rescues.
Willie and Wynona, thrown out in a shoe box before their eyes were open.
Backyard babies, Sugah, Spice and Lovebug. Born in our garage, we had mama and babies fixed.
Wynette, ran into our house when a tiny kitten.Wailin' (pictured below)... heard a pitiful crying outside, it was raining and we couldn't see her or find her. Next day, even more pitiful cries and wails, she finally came to the front porch and was all eyes and you could see every bone down her back. We gave her some wet food and she would take a bite and cry. We took her to the vet and she spent 8 days there. She has grown into a beautiful cat but i don't have recent photos. These are just home from the vet.

6 years agoThis is the mother to the kittens DH brought home last fall. I tried to name her Lucy but Dh had called her Mama for so long that it stuck. She's a sweetheart.

6 years agoMy acquisition early this year. Had his first birthday recently and is calming down a little. It's exhausting checking the door for box elder bugs, mosquitoes spiders and flies.

6 years agolast modified: 6 years agoHere is our Sebastian, he was my Father in Law's cat and is getting up there in age. We love him to pieces! His favorite perch is my desk, lying on the warm laptop.
We very recently adopted an abandoned cat and have named her Sox. She's thankfully already spayed, we've taken responsibility for having her vetted, vaccinated, registered and chipped. Last Thursday night while we were letting the dogs out into the backyard, she jetted out the door with them and disappeared. We were just devastated. I posted on the local animal shelter Facebook page and on Nextdoor. No true sightings. Hubby hung 15 flyers in the neighborhood and yesterday morning our back neighbor called. She had been outside enjoying her coffee when Sox just climbed over the fence and joined her for some cuddles! She is back home, exhausted from her adventure but blessedly safe! I'm not sure how we'll cope with her insistence on getting outside since we have to let the dogs out, but we WILL figure out a way. Debby's story about keeping a lost cat was really on my mind while she was missing. Here she is when my husband found her after the tenant moved. We did not chip and register her until we got confirmation from the former tenant's daughter that they had indeed left her behind. Who could do that to such a sweet kitty?
